SCEA and Santa Monica Studios are thrilled to announce the first Ultimate Edition for God of War. Earlier this year, we polled a number of fans on what would make an awesome collector’s edition for God of War. Well, we took your advice and created something epic and filled it with premium collectible and exclusive digital content.

The Ultimate Edition will feature the following:

Exclusive Collectibles
• High-End Sculpted Replica of Pandora’s Box
• Limited-Edition God of War Art Book featuring exclusive art, content and interviews

Exclusive Digital Content (Available via PlayStation Network voucher codes on day of launch)
• God of War Combat Arena containing an exclusive environment and seven challenges
• Premium Kratos Skin – Dominus
• God of War: Unearthing the Legend Franchise Documentary – a full-length movie documentary depicting the history of the God of War franchise
• God of War Trilogy Soundtrack – God of War, II, and III scores from the game (mp3 digital download).
• God of War: Blood and Metal EP – a heavy metal homage featuring original music inspired by God of War (mp3 digital download).

But it keeps getting better for the fans. Those that pre-order God of War III at select retailers will receive a voucher code for first access to download the God of War III E3 2009 Demo starting today, plus you will receive an exclusive downloadable skin from the following retailers: Amazon, GameCrazy and GameStop.

And as a special thank you to our Spartan Army members who signed up on www.GodofWar.com, we are sending out a direct email today with one free voucher code to randomly selected fans. So, please make sure you check your email inbox over the weekend to see if you are one of the lucky ones to receive a voucher code allowing you to download this demo instantly from PlayStation Network! Remember, it’s a random selection and only a limited amount of vouchers are being sent out, so good luck.

Thanks again to all the fans for their continued support and enthusiasm for God of War. We are all excited to give you an early taste of what is expected to be one of the biggest games of 2010!

In The End There Will Be Only Chaos…..

GameStop's are getting the pre-order cards in, today, via FedEx. One of the local GameStop's near me got 10 of the cards. I put $5.00 down, and got the card with the codes! I'll be playing some God of War III demo, later tonight! I'd love to get the Ultimate Edition, but, I'm just going to stick with the regular release.

By the way, the price GameStop is selling the Ultimate Edition for is $99.99! Yikes!

I took the survey, I think I said extra game content was the best extra they could add for a special edition. Other than the skin and the combat arena, looks like they didn't add too much. Certainly not $40 worth of content above the regular edition price.

Bump up the price $20 and add in the HD remakes of I and II and I bet there would be some good sales.

Really? You think there are GoW freaks who would gladly pay $120 for a $60 game plus SE bonuses, yet would gladly wait for 4-5 months, not buying the GoW 1 &2 remake available in November simply because they'd rather get it included in the gigantic Pandora box in March in the interest of saving $20?

My mistake, I didn't realize the 1 and 2 remake was coming out next month.

I like the Ultimate Edition. If I was younger and didn't have a family, I'd probably get it.

Anyone play the demo yet?

I went and pre-ordered the game only version at Amazon to get the demo code and still haven't received it yet.

The demo probably isn't even live until the God of War Collection comes out on the PS3.

Wonder if I should call Amazon.

I played the demo last night, and it rocks so hard! Beautiful game! Amazon is supposed to E-Mail the codes 10 business days after you pre-order. The only way to play the demo right away is to pre-order at a participating B&M retailer.

Not true, if you know someone with access to it in Europe it can be shared with you. I played the demo today, this game will be amazing.

 Art book
 Pandora's Box
 exclusive DLC -ohbfrank- Lame-O. Content that could be in every copy of the game.

I would say $40 is a bit overpriced for a "music-box" and Art Book, then again I'm a proud owner of a Cat helmet.

After a few emails exchanged with Amazon - they are sticking to the story that demo codes will be emailed out 10 days after purchase. Even though the God of War website specifically says "immediate access" with a pre-order.

Sorry Amazon - but you just lost a pre-order. Don't worry though - I'll wait to cancel after you email me the code next week. I'll be using either a Best Buy code or Gamestop code tonight.

I just got the codes for an order of the regular edition. I thought these were for the limited only. Awesome.

Apollo code doesn't work yet as I suspected. Make sure you hold on to those, although you can check your code on the amazon site on your account I believe later if you lose it.

No, the code for the demo download and exclusive skin is available for any edition pre-ordered. Of course, you won't be able to access the skin until you complete the game, once through. At least, that's what my understanding is.

Got my preorder demo code today. Downloading the demo now. <strike>Is the exclusive skin a separate code that will be sent later?</strike> Didn't see that second code. For some reason, these Amazon emails always come all messed up with all sorts of text that shouldn't show up but actually does. Anyway, hidden in the email text code is the second preorder bonus code. Glad I got in on the preorder when GOWIII showed up in my Gold Box and while the ECE was still active.

Played through the demo last night after the World Series was over. Holy SHIT is this game going to fucking rock!

They made the quicktime events way too easy though putting the icons on the screen relative to their position on the controller. That's okay with me though, I suck at video games. :)

My favorite part (obviously):

Ripping Helios' head off his body. Bad. Ass.
Runner up: smashing the dudes head into the wall while walking on the ledge.

I agree, this game is going to fucking rock. I don't know if I'm going to be able to stand the wait until this game is released!
