I know this isn't a deal, but now that black friday is approaching, I remember the days when the ads were posted every tuesday. Now they come out at all different times, or not at all... We should have a Speedy Tribute thread

Hear, hear! He probably single-handedly put them out-of-business through his work.

Speedy is still around, posting on occasion...including several times this month. Proof here. (http://forum.dvdtalk.com/members/speedy1961.html)

Also, I believe there have been multiple Speedy appreciation threads before.

I was just thinking this very same thing yesterday. As much as I miss his great contributions, I have to say I've been impressed by, and pleased with, the work of those who've succeeded him in this sub-forum. They've done a tremendous job this year.

I second that. As amazing as Speedy's work was, I'm impressed with the tenacity of fellow Dvdtalkers in carrying the torch every week. Thanks guys!

Don't be racist. You're supposed to say "African-American" Friday.

I miss Speedy too!

I miss Speedy too!

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. " -- Winston Churchill

Nope, it's worse. The enviro-mental-socialists are trying to change it to "Green Friday" now. Ugh.

It was worth quoting your quote again under the circumstances.

His exit from the bargain posting scene really shows what a difference one man CAN make cuz we all sure as hell noticed the difference when he was gone.

You guys make it sound like he's dead.

We may need an updated (He's Alive!) thread title.

Yep, Speedy's bargain threads were great. The best thing was that he was so much on a schedule. You just knew from week to week when the threads were going to be posted. It gave everyone ample time to plan purchases accordingly.

I appreciated Speedy1961's early postings of the Target, Circuit City, and Best Buy ads just like the next person, but you all are praising him like he was the only contributor here! Don't we all contribute in one way or another? It wasn't just speedy1961 who posted bargains here. He's moved on, I think it is time for everyone else to move on as well.
