Oooooooh noooooooo! I had totally forgotten about the 2 Zorro Walt Disney Treasures sets. $44.99 each is very expensive (yes I know there are 6 discs a piece) because I'm so used to waiting and buying an entire season of anything non-Disney for $10-$15 1-2 years after it's released.
HOWEVER, good old Disney with their super limited production runs of the WD Treasures series (seemingly trying to make them go OOP immediately so others can sell them for a fortune on eBay) makes waiting 1-2 years a very risky proposition.
Are other people going to buy at full price during the release week? Any other strategies or suggestions? I'm afraid I'm going to be forced to buy next week from Amazon at $39 each (assuming the price holds). I hate spending so much money. And I'm weird in that I actually prefer the colorized Zorro episodes which these are not.

Manzana, thanks for pointing out the Zorro seasons. I totally missed it when looking at the ad. I went to Amazon and pre ordered it for $38.99 for seasons 1 and 2 each. Also no tax, considering our state's 10% ding at the cash register.

I'll also have to let my parents know about The Shield price because it's at the top of my Christmas list.

Some of these can be gotten for cheaper if pre-ordered from bestbuy.com for local in store pick-up. I plan to pick up Forrest Gump and It's a Wonderful life on Blu-ray. They are each $20.99 on bestbuy.com compared to $24.99 in the print ad. The bb.com price on Gump is the best I've seen as Amazon currently has it listed for $23.49.

I held my nose and preordered at Amazon too. I really hate paying so much for 2 seasons of a TV series, but when I read about its limited printing I got worried that Amazon may not have enough even for the 1st shipment of preorders. I seriously think this is an official Disney strategy on the classic titles... print so few that Disney collectors are forced to pay their high prices on release date or risk really getting your guts ripped out through your nose on eBay which would make the current Amazon price look cheap. It reminds me of the great Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck exchange: "Shoot me now... or wait 'till I get home". Thanks, Disney, for never giving me the luxury of waiting 1-2 years to pick up your DVDs on the cheap.

Yeah that Shield price is ridiculous. I need to start WAITING on these TV sets vs spending $40 a pop when they come out, yuck!
FYI you can Preorder The Shield complete set from Borders using a 40% off coupon for $103.99 + your local tax, free shipping as well. A little cheaper than BB.

I'm glad I waited on the BB ad to see the price on Clone Wars S1 on Blu. It was $41.99 at Amazon a few days ago and I thought BB might be cheaper.....it wasn't.
But now Amazon has dropped to $34.99. :D I can't complain if Amazon is matching BB's DVD price on the Blu-Ray.

Probably to match Best Buy's leaked ad. When I made my comment, it was for $67.99 on Amazon.

Anyone who missed getting Dr Syn last year will surely grab the Zorros during release week if they are interested. Don't know how many they are making available but this isn't an Annette set which are still available at Best Buy. I think the best bargain on these sets is just not getting them and saving your money. If you want them, like I do, you have to pay. I will check Costco on release day to see if they have them and beat Amazon. Deep Discount currently has the Zorro sets for 10 cents cheaper than Amazon. Since I live in an Amazon tax state (NY). I canceled my Amazon order and ordered from Deep Discount.

Well, I paid $24.49 for Sunshine Cleaning 2 months ago when it was released, so I'm feeling "really" good about now. :(
Seriously, if anyone is on the fence about it, you should really get the movie. We watched it the same weekend as Adventureland (probably on sale next week for $5.99) and both thought Sunshine Cleaning was better.
Very, very good movie...especially for 10 bucks!

Target will have a Cinderella Man/Seabiscuit two pack for $22 on Sunday. I don't own either of those on blu, so I'll probably pick that up.
update - The ad says online only, so shipping can kill the deal unless BB or Amazon matches those.

Check the Target ad, $29.99. I hate not getting the points, but the $5 difference isn't worth it.
Plus the Target near my work is always swarming with hot soccer moms at lunchtime when I go :)

Target ad makes no mention of 29.99 being for the Blu-Ray version so my guess is that the price is for SD version.

That is because last week's "all BDs are 30% off" sale ended last night....
What is odd is the fact that the Clone Wars: S1 BD is listed in the ad for $47.99, six bucks more than that current $41.99 price online....if it actually stays the same price online, but rings up for the higher price in store, then people need to price match the site or do the "purchase online for in-store pickup" routine....

I saw a Bones S1 & S2 2-pack today at Target for $29.95. Chances are the way they're getting more and more of these (especially from Fox) you'll probably be able to get them cheaper eventually.

Went to Bestbuy today, they had The Simpsons Seasons 1- 10 for $12.99 each. Also each season of "Arrested Development" was $12.99, there were a lot more series on sale but I can't remember.
Bought The Simpsons Season 12th Limited Edition for $12.99 at Bestbuy. They did a price match since Target has it on sale this week(but weren't carrying the limited edition).
BTW Target has all seasons of 24 for $12.99 each and they also have a ton of series on sale.
