awesome sequence for Michigan's O-Line. Hold. Whiffed block that almost results in a safety. Delay of game because center won't snap the ball. They need to finish in the top 14 to be considered, top 8 is the auto bid
sure, but for an at large, they would also have to be ranked higher than the other people competing for the at large

would take ALOT for ND to go from unranked to #8 between now and the end of the season
They are BCS #23 now. Pretty easy road ahead, I can see it happening.
I take that back, if it wasn't for Charlie, I could see it happening. And hopefully he pulls out 1 more loss to put them in a 'don't care' bowl, but he keeps his job.
I'll root for them once in a long while when the universe aligns and they join the big ten, eleven, twelve..

but are they going to get back up there AND ahead of undefeated Boise State teams in the BCS standings?

Took a last second touchdown for Iowa to win and yet in the Computer Rankings they are #1 (up 2 spots from last week).
Still early but the polls at least make for some interesting discussions that's for sure.

Only one non-BCS school gets an auto-birth. If TCU goes undefeated they'll take that. If ND makes the top 14 than the bowls get to chose and they can take ND instead of Boise if the auto-bid is taken by TCU.
In 07 Mizzou was #6 in the BCS, Kansas was #8. Kansas went to the BCS.

undefeated in a bcs conference.. regardless how they win, cant really justify putting them behind teams with losses.

If Boise State, TCU, and Oregon all win out, Boise State will probably pass TCU.

I doubt it. Boise State has only played one decent team and barely snuck out of Tulsa with a win. TCU on the other hand plays tougher competition during the year and would probably get the nod. Boise State has already had their BCS chance in the last few years.

Boise beat Oregon, that's why he said that.

only non bcs conf team can get a automatic berth.. any more than the first one, moves into the at large qualifications and it depends on their BCS ranking compared to other bcs conf rankings (that didnt get automatic berths).Boy, that's clear. :hscratch:
PS - You're using the word "berth" as if there are playoffs. I think what you're talking about are big money post-season exhibition games, right?

Question: If a non-BCS school finishes undefeated, but is fifth in the national polls behind a twice-defeated BCS team that fails to win it's conference championship game, but who in turns loses to a co-champion of another conference that (a) finishes in the top 8 of the final BCS standings, or (b) beats three ranked teams but loses their season opener to a I-AA school, would they get selected for a BCS bowl game against a team ranked two spots lower than the aforementioned non-BCS undefeated team if they had their own exclusive television contract with NBC? And if the third scenario mentioned earlier in this thread were to come about, but instead of the co-champion finishing in the top 3, let's assume that the co-champion won a conference that does not have a title game, but did so by losing their final regular season game to the other co-champion... if that happened in an election year, would they be guaranteed a berth in the BCS "National Championship Game" even if their opponent WAS that team who beat them in the season finale? And if both teams were 1-2 going into AND coming out of that final game, could voters subsequently demote one of those two teams by "gaming" the system so that a rematch on a neutral site does not occur, even though the co-champion that won that season finale did so by 3 points on their own home field? And if not, can a team who wins their BCS conference and finish with an undefeated record get a shot at the national title if two other teams in other conferences that they never played also went undefeated if those two teams started the year in the preseason polls ranked higher?
Oh wait... those last ones aren't hypothetical. :)

And Michigan. Let's just say that the BCS works great when there are two clear-cut "best" teams - which unfortunately is exactly the time you don't need the BCS to work.
