Read this article yesterday:

Apparently, Owens is having his worst year ever with the Buffalo Bills, and he sucked pretty bad last year with the Cowboys. I remember several dropped balls. Does this guy have butterfingers or what?

It's said to see him fade away so quickly. Two years ago, he was kicking ass with the Cowboys, breaking records. He brought excitement to the team again. Now the Cowboys suck even more without him.

He already apologized. What more do you want him to do?

Poor T.O. Ok, not really.

I'll say one thing. I enjoyed him sucking as a member of the Cowboys more than I do him sucking as a Buffalo Bill.

I'm sure he'll make a good commentator.

I don't think his career is over. He just needs to go to a team that doesn't suck at throwing the ball as much as the Bills do. He's still a servicable WR and could be a #1 on a few teams and #2 in most.

as a charger fan i wouldn't mind having him.. looks like chambers is done.. they could line up vincent jackson on one side and owens on the other side.. with gates at te somebodys gonna be open.. and you'd have a good qb that could get him the ball.. sure he has baggage.. who care? as long as you win right.. its not like they don't have a guy like him thats a distraction to the team right now.. yup merriman.. now his career is done.. can you say overated????

Over his last two years with Dallas I saw him short arm a lot of passes to avoid taking big hits -passes that he could have cought if he really tried.

As a Cowboys fan I wanted him gone after I saw that pattern.

As a Chargers fan I'd want the team to avoid him like the plague.

T.O. is one of the most selfish players ever (NOT giving 100% effort to trying to catch a ball in order to avoid a hit is VERY selfish), and the guy is just nuts. Any team that signs him is stupid.

I could see him in Baltimore next year. Honest.

As a Bengals fan I wouldn't know whether to cheer the move or dread it.

No way does he go to Baltimore after the shit he said about Ozzie.

As a Charger fan I definitely wouldn't want him near our team. Chambers isn't done. He's just the 3rd or 4th option now. WR is actually the least of our team's worries.

He short arms passes over the middle when he would take a hit if he made the catch.

Only an idiot GM would bring a guy like that to his team.

A.J. - Don't be an idiot! ;)

Until the Chargers get rid of Turner, all other discussion regarding San Diego is irrelevant (in terms of improving/worsening the team).

I became a Cowboys fan back in 1977 when the Chargers were still a horrible team and hadn't been any good my entire life at that point.

The next year the Chargers hired Don Coryell and the team turned around immediately and we finally had an NFL team in town that was worth getting excited about - but I was still a Cowboys fan (how could you not be - Roger Staubach, Tony Dorsett, Drew Pearson, Butch Johnson, Too Tall Jones, Harvey Martin, Randy White - that team was a lot of fun).

I haven't been able to follow the Cowboys as closely over the last 10 years as they no longer get shown on TV out here as much as they used to, but I'm still a fan.

I dont understand how this guy keeps getting jobs. He has a 79-98 record as a head coach. In 12 seasons as an NFL head coach only 4 times has his team finished the season with a winning record.

Yup. He can dress it up all he wants, but that's the gist of what he said.

Owens was always a decent, not good, catcher in Dallas. It was his speed if he actually made the catch that separates him from other WRs.

Which is why when he would complain about getting passed the ball more, it was always hilarious b/c when they did, he would drop more than he would catch. And if the ball is in danger of being intercepted, he never tries to break it up.

So in other words, you're a bandwagon jumper?

No, I was NINE years old in 1977, and I saw a Cowboys game on TV and loved the team. The Chargers were a non-factor in town since they hadn't won anything since the mid 60's.

I'm still a Cowboys fan, and have been a Chargers fan since they hired Don Coryell as coach in the middle of the 1978 season. (He was the head coach at San Diego State, and I've been an Aztecs fan literally since I was 2.)

I've never stopped being a fan of either team, so I don't see how that's bandwagon jumping.

And how old were you in 1977? Care to go over what teams you've followed since then?

you can't be a cowboy fan and a charger fan.. maybe in baseball you could follow two teams an al team and an nl team.. but not in football.

As a die hard Steeler fan, I could never picture being a fan of more than one team. There are players I root for, sure, but liking two teams? It could never happen.

 Doesn't seem all that farfetched to me if he liked one team as a kid and the other is local. Now it'd be another thing if it were the Steelers and Cowboys, but it doesn't seem like Dall-SD cross paths very often.

He's getting old. It happened to Marvin Harrison too. And the end came pretty quick. You could see the signs in Dallas last year. The Cowboys were putting him motion a lot to help avoid jams at the line and so forth. He may still be NFL worthy, but he's not a star anymore.

How old are you guys? 13?

Seriously, you had to be in San Diego in the 70's to understand just how bad the Chargers were. They were the Detroit Lions of that era before Don Coryell came in, and since the Aztecs were regularly winning 9 or 10 games per season the Chargers were an afterthought prior to 1978.

I have always loved football, and since the Chargers were a waste of time up to that point I liked what I saw in the Cowboys (and if you're too young to remember the 1970's Cowboys then you will never, ever get it) so I became a fan. When the Chargers hired Coryell and became good I got into that team because they were OUR team in San Diego. We finally had an NFL team worth watching. So I've been a fan of both ever since.

And anyone can be a fan of two NFL teams. Why not? I mean, sure - not within the division, but one AFC and one NFC team? Why not? As an Aztec fan I rooted for the Rams when they had Marshall Faulk and Az Hakim on the roster - I've been an Aztec fan since 1970, so I'll always support SDSU guys when they get to the NFL. Just like I support guys from my high school who are in the NFL (Pisa Tinoisamoa, Leon Hall, and Russell Allen).

But, ON TOPIC, as a Cowboys fan I really, really got tired of T.O. and his dropped passes, lack of effort to catch passes over the middle, and his drama queen attitude. I can't imagine anyone signing him after this season. Only an idiot would give that guy a contract.

I was 10 in '77.

Similar thing. Back then, on TV (here) were the Raiders, the Cowboys, and the Steelers. My dad was a Raiders fan (still is), my best friend was a Steelers fan (still is), and I became a Cowboys fan (still am).

The Bengals are the local team here. Never cared for them during the up times or the down times. I've been to a LOT of games but not as a 'Bengals fan'.

The point the others said are you liked the Chargers only when they became good. Did you like them when they sucked after Fouts, did you follow the Cowboys when they sucked in the mid-80s, and late 90s+?

When I was growing up, the Steelers were awful. The 70's were behind them, and I started liking football in the mid-80's. Didn't matter - I was a real fan. The closest I come to liking another team is not hating them.

Only women like more than one team...one because their man makes them like the same team as them, and a few more because of their pretty colors/uniforms.

I've been a steadfast Chargers and Cowboys fan since the 70's. It's been harder to follow the Cowboys here since they don't get shown on TV every Sunday like they did from the 70's through the mid 90's (about 80% of their games were shown in San Diego during that period), but I've never stopped being a fan.

Well, I was pissed at Jerry Jones for the way he fired Tom Landry, but so were most Cowboys fans.

I hated Bobby Beathard and wanted him fired a couple years before he was finally shown the door, but I never stopped supporting the team.

The point is when I was a really young kid no one watched the Chargers on TV, and their games were played in front of a half empty stadium. I saw maybe 2 or 3 Chargers games on TV before 1978. I was barely even aware that they existed - UNTIL they hired former SDSU coach Don Coryell to turn the team around. The Aztecs outdrew the Chargers for a few years in the early to mid 70's, and as a big Aztec fan I was immediately turned into a Charger fan when they hired St. Don as Head Coach.

There has never been a conflict for me to be both a Cowboys fan and a Chargers fan. The Cowboys were the first NFL team that I liked, and the Chargers were (and are, for the time being) the home town team. It wasn't just that the Cowboys were a winning team (if that were all I based it on I would have been a Steelers fan), it was the personalities of the players - Staubach, Dorsett, Pearson, Johnson, Jones, Martin, Dupree, Waters, Harris, White - great players with great personalities, that's what made me a fan.

Jeez, what's the big deal? I've never jumped OFF any bandwagon... -rolleyes-

Man, some of you guys have a lot of rules regarding liking football teams. I grew up in NY and like both the Jets and the Giants. To make matters worse, I now live near Denver and enjoy when the Broncos do well. I guess I can't be a real football fan, huh?
