30% off regularly priced BDs (no new releases, no Ice Age 3, Tinker Bell ATLT, Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, Transformers: ROTF, Wrong Turn, Twilight, Last House On The Left, Friday The 13th, The Haunting, some other "horror" movie I can't make out, and music blu-rays)

so not much of a sale compared to everyday Amazon prices but you might find a deal or 2 and may be good if you have GC's or credit to burn

Hmmm, I wonder if this deal will be available online at their site as well....there have been some MSRP price drops lately that their site reflects, but their stores do not...I'd rather be able to order online and use the in-store pickup option to get the cheapest price, rather than go through the hassle of debating things with some of their employees....
I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for Sunday!

Anyone know what Batman Begins is usually priced at? I just saw that it's on sale for 13.49. Don't know if I should pick it up today or hold off and see if it's cheaper after the 30% off.

i picked up hot fuzz and green mile today, gonna go back tomorrow for the adjustment.

im thinkin of pickin up that 3pack of halloween, hellraiser and children of the corn. its priced @ $35, but minue the 30% it would bring it down to about $25.

and i saw the masters of horror season 1 for $45. For just over $30, thats not a bad deal at all.

Hmmm, I wonder if this deal will be available online at their site as well....

website reflects the 30% off prices .... including pre-orders

most of the stuff is still on par though with Amazon pricing as I thought in the OP especially once you add tax on the BB price
plus I wouldn't doubt Amazon marks down anything big enough that they have priced lower

some things like Inglourious Basterds which is 20.99 on bb.com vs 27.99 on Amazon (but I doubt Amazon has marked this as far down as they will closer to street) look to be better deals

NXNW is 24.29 on Amazon and 20.99 on bb.com but again not much once you add tax and no shipping if you have Prime

The Green Mile which appears to be exclusive to them right now is now 20.99

So will these prices hold on pre-orders if the order is placed now? Any reason to believe they won't?

I stopped using Amazon in August after they started using a really shady courier for Prime members in this area. Getting prices for all the Q4 releases at or better than Amazon prices is very attractive for me now that I am buying local again.

In theory, you should be able to pick up the Battlestar Galactica Complete Blu-ray Collection for $175 + tax, since in-store pricing is $250 for the Blu-ray set. Not too shabby, considering you can actually go there, make sure you've got a good-looking set, and have a receipt for in-store returns in case of a faulty disc or something.

As a reminder, BestBuy honors price matches for 30 days - If you bought anything in the last month, they'll adjust the price.

Snow White = $20.99, Sleeping Beauty = $20.99. I got them when they were both $25 and ended up with a $15 gift card + $10 off, making them just a few dollars each after pricematch.

Proposal is $20.99 - if you used your coupon ($10 off) you can get it for $10.99 after price-match (previously $26.99)

I came out with $30 back after price-matches today.

Not that I am going to spend this amount, but the Batman Anthology is $66.99 for Blu and 89.99 for DVD... hmmmmm?

Probably regret this as I am sure there will be an IMAX version or some other special or coupon or something, but Star Trek (2009 Movie) is $20.99 with this sale... In store Pickup = $0 ship... + tax... Maybe I can cancel pre-order if it becomes cheaper with other means..

They also have many titles for $9.09... Click on Movies, Click on Blu-Ray, Sort by "Priced Low to High" and browse... Jewel of the Nile, Romancing the Stone, Batman 1966, to name a few..

Same here. BB's prices are ridiculously high. $50 bucks for Band of Brothers and that is with the 30% discount? That's crazy. James Bond blu rays sets were priced at 100 bucks b4 discount. lol

I did get Shawshank Redemption for $17.XX though.

I think this sale's getting undersold here. I'm fine with spending around $20 for a new-ish Blu, and these are some pretty good prices; I did a cross-check of eight titles, comparing to Amazon and Deep Discount minus 25% (presuming that sale comes back in November), and all but one were at least a buck or two cheaper at bestbuy.com.

maxfisher
10-25-09, 08:57 PM
Yeah, looks like picking up all three seasons of Star Trek TOS is about $172. That's about $40 less than Amazon and $45 less than Deep Discount. Not too bad.

I got Primal Fear, Romancing the Stone, Jewel of the Nile, and Spaceballs ($5 MFR coupon printout) plus Ice Age 2 ($5 MFR coupon printout). Pretty solid prices. I would have bought Major League for $12.59 if they had it in store. I'll just order from Amazon, and hopefully they'll match.

I personally don't consider paying 1 or 2 bucks less than other retailers a 'deal' when I'm on the fence about buying certain titles anyway. The titles I looked at were a buck or two less than amazon and the likes, but that doesn't make me want to rush and buy them. When tax is added they are the same price as amazon.

I'll wait for Black Friday if I get anything. I've purchased about 10 titles since summer and I have yet to open any because DVR is talking up all of my time.

I haven't paid $20 or more for any of my Blu-ray discs.

My local store had an 8.5 x 11" sign printed up and placed on top of the BD racks - "30% off all Blu-Ray Discs" - one could even make a case that it would apply to new releases/sale items since there was no disclaimer.

It still shows as $24.99 on BestBuy.com so it seems unlikely. Since it would be a "new release," they may not have coded its UPC under the 30% discount.

Then again it's Best Buy, so YMMV.

It is currently $17.49 on Amazon tho'.

For whatever reason, there are actually two separate, differently priced listings for this title on their site...

This one is the right one, normally $19.99, on sale this week for $13.99:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9526248&st=Grinch&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=51207

And then this one here is listed at $24.99 and not being discounted, but it is backordered anyway and not available for store pickup:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=18072513&st=Grinch&lp=3&type=product&cp=1&id=51207

IIRC Best Buy was the lowest with Season Two on release date -- I want to say $60 -- which was pretty good at the time (and Amazon did match at some point during that week).

However, this release doesn't have the support of another Star Trek box set or title being released on that date, so who's to say the discount will the same for Season Three.

It's depends on your tax rate, but it's not that bad of a deal.

Ran by and picked up some discs yesterday. Wizard of Oz (with lenticular cards-still had some left), Shaun of the Dead, Van Helsing, Army of Darkness. A guilty pleasure extravaganza!

I hope they're just late on matching this. They seem a little slow adjusting prices, as they just matched The Professional and Love, Actually today.

Sweet. Hardware (the film) is included in this sale. Might have to drop by BB today.

So the dumbass told me the 30% only applied if you bought that Insignia player. Everything rings up at 30% off though?

The "manager" (there's never a REAL manager in BB) tried to tell me this too and after politely arguing about it, he called another store, and then said he was wrong.

Turned out good for me, because I didn't pay attention to something too, that the discount didn't apply to music related BDs, and they gave me the 30% of The Police-Certifiable BD anyway for the "problems" they caused by not knowing about their own deals.

Two years ago I remember liking going into BB and getting great deals, now I buy almost everything online.

It's strange because I checked all my orders today and my Star Trek is 22.99 in my pre-order. That's not because of matching the BB deal, because that would take it to 20.99.

I have no idea where my price came from and with Forrest Gump and Chasing Amy not going down either, I think some might not get matched.

E-mails never hurt and sometimes do get enough attention for Amazon to do something. I've sent 2.

If you've had it pre-ordered for while, it was $22.99 briefly (like a day) a couple of weeks ago. It was likely automatically adjusted through the pre-order guarantee.

As a heads-up, the Sony staycation coupons are good through Saturday - you can get some very good deals on titles when combined with the BB sale:
http://www.sonyrewards.com/local/files/en/clubs/bluray/moviestaycation//Staycation%20Coupon%20Sheet_Generic.pdf

I just picked up 'The One' on blu for $11.99. Most of these are under $15 before coupon.

BB just sent me a 10% off coupon in my email. Has anyone tried using this coupon in conjunction with the 30% off? According to the coupon it's not supposed to work when you combine offers, but sometimes it works anyway.

I picked up quite a few things with this 30% off BDs, I pretty much tapped out all my money in the process.

I got:

Home Alone
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
Dr. Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory

And then I also preordered:

It's a Wonderful Life
Rocky: Undisputed Collection (which I ended saving only about $0.50 on, but whatever)

I've had no luck with coupons and "sale" prices like these - the rep will usually say "Yeah, it accepted it", only to see that it took off $0.00 (or only discounted the non-sale items.

^ yeah, the discount only applies to the titles shown on the coupon (the majority being DVD with a handful of BLU). The Professional shown on the coupon is for this DVD: http://www.amazon.com/Professional-Jean-Reno/dp/0767802519

Yes, it does work, just used one this morning, saved an additional 10% on top of the 30% off sale price...the reason this works is because the 30% off is not in their systems indicated as a "sale price"....

Ignore my previous posts asking about Up.

I noticed that the cashier didn't ring up my pre-order correctly and I took it back in to have done right. While the CS girl was adjusting it, I asked her if when I picked up the Blu-Ray on release day, would I pay the price that day or the pre-order price from yesterday. She wasn't sure, but wrote on my receipt that the pre-order on the website was $24.49. If all goes well, I should owe $24.49 + tax - $7.95 pre-order on release day.

What's the over/under on how soon the disc holders in the steelbook break? ;)

Have you seen the flimsy holder/flaps inside the Up steelbook? It is not like a normal steelbook case.....

Had $25 in reward zone credit and had to spend $23 dollars before the end of the year to retain Silver status, so I got Star Trek, Harry Potter HBP, and Terminator Salvation. Wasn't sure on Terminator, but I needed something else and it had a great price. It came out to about $33. I can live with that.

More than likely the instore price for up on release day is going to be 24.99 anyways, which i think its show as being online since day one of the pre orders.(though i could be very mistaken on that) if anything it will possibly be a little cheaper as well. when you did your preorder (unless you did it online) you didnt pay for it in advance so in all likely hood your price will ring up for the price they have it and if its even cheaper at say frys or walmart you can price match it.

myself i got a refund on my pre order today for the 8.25 since the amazon price is to good to pass up especially when buying monsters inc as well.

works out to like 17.00 and some change each with no sales tax and free shipping. and bestbuy doesnt ask for the steel book back when you ask to refund the pre order.

sorry if i made that more complicated than need be just trying to point out you have options :)
I have a couple of stupid questions:

If I preorder Up on Blu-Ray ($24.49 on the website) in-store and get the Steelbook for free, what price am I going to pay for Up when I pickup the DVD on release day? I'm guessing release day price minus $7.95 I put down for it.

Would I be better off pre-ordering it on the website to make sure I lock in the 30% off Blu-Ray sale this week?

Interesting. I was wondering the same thing as well, as the signs were still up at my local BB. The 30% discount is NOT reflected in BB.com prices anymore, however.

FWIW, the sale is over. I just happened to pick titles up that Best Buy has apparently discounted. Wanted, for example, is $19.99 now.
