I have 2 for my DVD collection, but they work great for CDs, too. They come in a couple different colors and sizes, take a look at Racks and Stands (http://www.racksandstands.com), and if you have the patience to wait for the next Deep Discount sale, they sometimes carry the towers and have them for 20% off.
There is a picture of one of my CD shelves in the old thread linked above, I use 2 sets of out-of-production shelves that I picked up at Target a few years ago, if anything similar was available I'd link to them because I think they're the perfect size for CDs.
It still looks mostly like that, only now there's a few stacks of CDs needing to be shelved off to the side, plus a new large 10 shelf high rack along another wall.

I'm with Bus.
Here's the previous thread, but you won't get many actual pictures out of it.
All of my CD's are either in a binder or stored in various spots around my place.

My CDs are all in binders as well, and I've actually bought fewer and fewer physical discs over the last 2 years. Most of my purchases are digital these days, though I'm still buying about the same amount of music (~80 albums/year).

Kristina - Take a look at the spinning towers from Leslie Dame:
That's about the best shot I could fit in from the corner of the room. I got the shelves from DeepDiscount during a 20% off sale. While they're not as tall in the individual areas as I'd like (some of the slightly taller special-packaged CDs don't quite fit), they do the job well enough.

I see Allison Moorer's Miss Fortune atop a speaker in the middle. I love her voice, and this is a great album of hers.
And Reverie: Bottom corner, first photo: That's a selection of George Strait albums, isn't it? I'm starting to feel less alone in the music forum!
Also, I'd like to express how sickeningly jealous I am of such well organized and impressively sized libraries you two have.

If I didn't have about 1000 DVDs to display, I probably would have all of my CDs displayed, but instead I keep them all in storage bins. Like others, I rip them to my hard drive, transfer the music to my iPod and store the actual CDs. The exception is my collection of SACD/DVD-A and CDs with DVDs packed-in, which I keep in a small shelf downstairs in my living room.

Wow - awesome collection Thanks for the pics. About how many CD's do you have?
As a guess by counting one shelf, I'd have to say somewhere north of 2600. That includes my wifes in there as well, which leads me to....

If it's country, it's probably my wife's. ;) Though I have been tripping into it a little more as of late with the likes of Johnny Cash, and a couple others that I can't think of right now.

Considering the huge number of DVD's/HD DVD's/Blu-ray's I have on display I'm guessing I should maybe just go this route in the future myself. I just don't have the space... and I may turn to digital downloads as well and then simply burn the music if I want to listen to it in the car, home stereo, etc.
It makes me sad that I don't have room for everything, but the fact is it takes up way too much space (and the idea of having tons of CD's on display at some point in my life when I usually just listen on my iPod or computer anyway is not appealing).

Remembered that I had a pic of my collection hosted online. It looks pretty much the same right now, except for a little less shelf space and the addition of my music/concert DVDs on one of the shelves:

Oh, and that's somewhere between 750 and 800 CDs. iTunes and my CD catalog software disagree on how many I own, more than can be accounted for by my iTunes purchases.
