"Treehouse of Horror XX"
Three chilling tales of Halloween horror unwind. First, Lisa becomes livid with Miss Hoover, and in a series of homages to classic Hitchcock sets out for deadly revenge. Next, Krusty's latest fast-food sandwich transforms news anchor Kent Brockman into an enraged zombie and twenty-eight days later, cannibal zombies have overrun Springfield. In the final frightening fable, Homer accidentally falls through a trapdoor in Moe's tavern and impales himself on the pipes of Moe's microbrewery. Moe serves the barflies a glass of delicious beer flavored with Homer's blood and Homer, now half-man, half-brewing apparatus.

It's nice to have a new Treehouse of Horror air before Halloween.

It has to be because of baseball, I'm assuming.

In the past they've waited until after the World Series to air it; several times it has been the Season Premiere as Fox used to not do any new programming until baseball was over.

Yeah it has to be baseball, but that means no new animation domination till November!

Still scratching our head over that grade... I'd say a C- but then I haven't liked the last 2-3. No good LOLs in this neck of the woods...

I would say a B-. Beer man Homer was meh. I liked the first two stories. Apu driving the big truck was the best part.

I thought the opening was the best part.

The 28 Days Later story started out strong andthen sputtered out halfway through.

I liked the Hitchcock "homage" the best.

I really hated the last one. What were they spoofing on that one? A musical? A play?

Sweeney Todd
 Thanks. I never seen the play nor the movie.

I would give it a C+ overall.

Opening - B
Hitchcock spoof - B+, Could have been great if they had put in some good jokes. Still it was generally well done and the animation was great.

28 days later - B-, I feel like they dropped the ball on this one, and they've done similar THoH segments before.

Sweeney Todd - D, Probably would have enjoyed it more if I had seen the original, but not by much.

The third one seemed nothing like Sweeney Todd to me, in plot or tone.

Last one sucked.

Hitchcock one was great.

If the last one was Sweeny Todd --- then it was just as boring as the movie.

The 28 days later did start out strong - but the ending lacked punch.

The Hitchcock one was interesting.

I do agree that it was nice to get this one before Halloween - when they air them after, it just does not "feel" right.

I liked Jimbo's Halo Master Chief costume. Pretty decent but I agree the 28 Days Later parody had WAY more potential than they actually used.

I really liked this episode, all of it. I even loved the Sweeney Todd bit, especially how they made it look like it was the Simpsons characters actually performing the play. Pretty cool if you ask me. :)

Best chuckle in the 28 Days Later... was Madea Goes to Hell.

Can't wait for that one.

Wasn't this actually a combo of 28 Days Later and I Am Legend? The "chose one" needed to get to the free zone, right?

Well the blood in the beer that made it taste "good" is supposed to be like the human meat pies that everyone enjoyed. A bit of a stretch, but I didn't mind it.

Overall, I actually thought it was quite good. There were tons of jokes flying fast and furious in the background to the point that I'd need to watch it again.

BTW my FOX affiliate is doing a marathon of several THoHs during the day of Halloween since it is on Saturday this year. Check your local listings.

I liked each of the stories, but it seemed like none of the endings were all that satisfying. I loved the intro too.

Easily the best Halloween episode in sometime. Loved the first story (being a huge Hitch fan...), really liked the second one (having seen the 28 films a bunch of times and having read I Am Legend a few times as well) and I found the third story entertaining.

My favorite bits from the episode were Ralph eating himself and Moe writing Homer's letter.

Naw, it was a mix of 28 Days Later... and 28 Weeks Later.

I was thinking 28 Days Later and Children of Men.

My favorite one was the first one.

Hitchcock homage - B

Zombie outbreak - B+

Musical - D

I really enjoyed the first two segments, but the third sank this episode like a goddamn torpedo.

Totally agree. The first was very entertaining and the 28 Days Later parody was almost cinematic and could have made a great full-length Halloween movie. But the third segment? What was that? There were some funny jokes here and there but the story was just awful, unpleasant and nonsensical. I didn't even follow the story line...

I was thinking the same thing. How cool would it be if the next full-length Simpsons film was a lengthened Treehouse of Horror segment?
