Stargate Universe -- "Darkness" -- 10/16/09

Stargate Universe

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

When the Destiny's power reserves drop to a critical level, the crew is ordered to use power for essential services only, but the rationing isn't enough to keep Rush from announcing that all on board will die within days.

All caught up and I quite like this new incarnation of Stargate. I really like that it's serialized and I also like that the show has a darker tone than the previous 2 series. I think it has a very clausterphobic atmosphere, which IMO adds to the drama and tension.

Glad it sounds like 'air' wasn't the only issue.

Waiting for the episode "Shit" when the toilets won't work.

That episode won't be a problem since it will follow the "Food" episode where they run out of food and half of them die. Unless the toilets is how they try to dispose of the bodies.

I have never watched any Stargate but have given this a shot and so far I am really enjoying it.

I think I will go out and buy the Stargate SG1 sets and catch up on that series as well.

This episode was decent, some suspense, character development and leaving the viewer to want more.

Yeah, because nothing really happened. Lights go out, angst, see planets, the end.

Why didn't they use the communication stones to swap out some of the grunts for Daniel, Samantha, and Rodney for awhile? Surely they could have helped out Dr. Rush with some of the issues they're facing.

That was a pretty boring episode.

Oh and I hate that stereotypical black annoying soldier. If he would have treated me the way he did Rush. I would have stabbed him in the neck and left him on that desert planet.

It wouldn't do the show any good to bring in SG-1 and Atlantis characters everytime there was problem. But, I understand how that sort of makes the communication stones relatively useless if your not gonna use them in the most logical way.

If/when you do so keep in mind the original series doesn't really kick into gear until about the 3rd season. They do a good job of brining some of the stuff from the first two seasons into it again, but it does get off to a slow start.

Ugh, Rodney practically ruined SG: Atlantis for me. Every episode boiled down to Rodney pulling off some "One in a million" longshot to save the day at the very last minute after bitching for an hour about how impossible the situation was. I wanted to see more of the other characters, but they were basically sidelined so we could watch The Rodney McKay show week after week.

It's not Rodney's fault he is so awesome. But yeah, pulling some last minute miracle to save the day happened a bit too often on both previous shows. It was a bit refreshing to see that not happen in this ep of SGU.

I still dont get why there was that dude in some RuPaul makeup in the first series.

I did see a random ep of Atlantis and thought it was pretty good. There was some hot chick on there and they Jewel from Firefly

That was my wife and I's thought when the Colonel did the transfer and headed out of town. Then he visited his ex... Why not get help?

Dr. Rush is beginning to grate a little as well...
