Another exclusive... ?

Even DVD Aficionado has the Wal-mart and Target exclusive BDs listed and did so before they went on sale.

I can't find mention of this release anywhere...so odd is definitely the right word.

I eagerly look forward to hearing more about this before running over to BB and paying more than $30 for it.

Holy crap! I am going at 10 am to check it out. My store says its in stock and this movie is worth a few extra bucks. Definitely buying today if its really there and a digibook.

$15 range for me. Cool to see it 'snuck' out. I thought it was a Nov release.

I want this, it's one of my favorite's, but $30? No thanks.

I also can't believe they just slipped this entirely under the radar.

Second film this month that Warner has 'slipped' into retail stores.

Yeah, but at least we knew Gremlins was being planned. This is a complete surprise - at least to me. I love the Green Mile and am happy to know it's a digibook but the fact it's not even in this week's ad and there has been no real talk (to my knowledge) concerning it's release it seems, to quote you, "odd".

I don't like these covert releases. What's the deal with not alerting consumers about a street date? WB has some strange practices when it comes to Blu-ray.

There was an ad a few weeks ago showing it coming out but Warner never officially announced it. They sometimes do the 30 days out thing (Batman Anthology comes to mind)

Me too. As much as I love the film, you'd be crazy to drop $30.00 on this before seeing any reviews. Given WB's notorious crappy PQ treatment.

Well i called to verify they had it and asked them to put it on hold for me. Picked it up and was shocked at the price. Not sure if its YMMV or its on sale. The sticker did say $29.99. Not sure what the SALE over the phone bit is on there... maybe thats what helped?

Most of their digibook titles have received very good transfers. Only a couple of them are average.

Not sure if anyone wanted to see the back scan of the insert.

I would say that there hasn't been any correlation between the packaging and the transfer. I mean, the quality has been mixed, but it's been the case with digibooks and non-digibooks. I think they just decided to put some of their bigger titles in the special packaging. Perhaps the more popular titles are prone to getting better transfers, but I don't think they've said "this will be in a digibook, so we'll do this one better."

I'll wait until it dips below $15. I've got a lot of movies in my Blu-ray queue anyway.

I wouldn't mind revisiting this movie in Blu-ray since it's been ages since I've seen it. However I won't pick this up until I've seen it as a rental and it drops to the <$15 price point.

The blu looks good on my 50" 1080i Plasma. It looks as good as the shawshank release to me. I am glad that I picked it up, especially at $24.99. Have digibooks gone down in price over time? Still waiting to get the old Batman digi and 300 digi but the cheapest i have seen in store is $24 and up.

yes, Amadeus was down to 14.99 on sale week after street
Shawshank came out with a higher price but could be found sub 19.99 in short time
I believe there are other similar examples (OFOTCN)

If you are comparing this to "Shawshank", then I'm out (see below). Because I thought that PQ was yet another half assed WB effort. At the very least, I'm going to rent this first. And if I think it's decent, will shell out the $$$ for an upgrade.

That was fast.

It sounds great to me, but I'm going to wait for it to go on sale. I'll probably get it for $15. There's no huge rush for me. It's not like with Gremlins which I wanted to get immediately because of it being October and that release was also less expensive than this is right now.

Sounds great to me as well, but not for $30. Like others, $10-$15 sounds perfect for a film like this. It won't get a ton of replay but is a good one to own.

I lucked out and scored my digibooks from the wbshop.com 4-way coupon stack and the gohastings.com deal (Batman, Matrix, and NBKs). This one is nice to have, not must have for me. If it's super cheap, I'll nab it up.

Best Buy has had Amadeus, Cuckoo Nest, and Matrix for $14.99 at one point or another. With the holidays coming up and Warner's penchant for great promotional deals... I have to think this one will be found for similar before the end of the year.

NetFlix has a 12/1 date for this, and it's the same deal with Gremlins. Maybe that's when other stores get them.

That's what blu-ray.com is reporting.
