They played this trailer on a Blu-ray about a month or two ago with no date, but from what I've heard expect it sometime around the first week or two of January. It was supposed to come out in December...but studios have moved on from 2009 to 2010 plans.

Well at least one new thing (likely a retrospective). This release is timed for the second part of the new ABC Family series. It's possible the BD release may get delayed a week or two if the TV shows gets pushed back. I won't know more for a while since its so far out.

Disney has announced that Touchstone's 10 Things I Hate About You: 10th Anniversary Edition will be released to DVD ($19.99 SRP) and Blu-ray ($39.99 SRP) on January 5, 2010. (Because getting it out this December would have been rendered the milestone accurate.)
Both versions will include an all-new making-of documentary with deleted scenes, bloopers, interviews, and Heath Ledger's screen test. An audio commentary and digital copy will also be included on both formats. The release marks the first time on Blu-ray and 16:9-enhanced DVD for the Shakespeare-inspired 1999 high school comedy that recently spawned an ABC Family show.

This seems like an attempt to cash grab off of Heath's death (like other studios do when an actress suddenly becomes big and they re-release showcasing them)

I'm more annoyed that the credits appear (sort of) over the wrong people. ARGH.
The worst part is that the original image was in the other direction and they flipped it.

I wonder if they will include the pilot episode for the TV series.
I havent checked out the show but i really liked the movie(one of the better attempts at reimagineing a Shakespeare story for teen audiences) still have the poster in my collection.
Its intresting that Larry Miller was able to be convinced to reprise his role as the father for the tv series/

I love the movie and tried to watch the show but only made it through one episode and was out - not good. So hopefully there won't be any mention of the show on this release ;)

I'd say neither. Takes the general idea but plays it out over episodes/seasons. I watched the first 10 episodes and they were alright. If it got canceled I wouldn't be upset, but it got picked up for the back 10 (or 12) to make it a full season. Characters names and their personalitys are the same, different storylines etc.

Actually, the TV replacements for those two characters are great. Everyone else though...ugh.

I remember everyone saying what a strong female character Julia Stiles played, that she could be a role model for girls to empower themselves. Huh. Must be the part when she exploits her gender by flashing her teacher to help Heath Ledger's character. Real feminist move there. :shrug:

I loved this movie as a teenager and I'll be glad to pick it up when it's released. It's a beautiful film and the sets were great, especially the high school used in the movie.

The first part of Season 1 of the show has been set for January 12th. It's very possible the movie release might get pushed back a week just for the tie-in.

Still, a fun movie.Well, it's not like Heath tells her to do it, it's just all she can come up with, and I wouldn't say she's exploiting herself so much as just trying to come up with a surefire distraction.
