FOX to air all ordered eps of Dollhouse

"We're going to run all the episodes," Fox scheduling chief Preston Beckman said. "We're not saying we're happy with those numbers, or accept them, but we don't have to overreact. During [November] sweeps we might have to jack up the numbers a little [with other programming], but we plan on completing the order for this show."
"We'll definitely have closure, but will leave some doors open," said Whedon, who's currently shooting the eighth episode. "When we got our first numbers, which were bad, the first thing [Fox president of entertainment] Kevin Reilly said was, 'You'll have all 13,' which was great. They're not going to pull the rug out from under us."

Regardless of whether the show is canceled or not, I have to respect FOX for this statement. They gave Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles a second chance after lackluster ratings for the first season, renewed it, and then aired every episode. They gave Dollhouse a second chance and are likewise going to run all the episodes. That's a pretty good improvement from the old days where FOX would cancel a show after a few episodes and never air the rest of them.

Kevin Reilly has had it rough recently, but I respected the job he did to put FX on the map. I think there was a lot of concern out of the Whedonites that he was going to stake this show because it wasn't one he greenlit, but I think he has done as much as he could for it.

Dollhouse is an interesting show, they should air all the episodes. Fox is definetly one of the better channels out their. Lie to Me, House, Family guy, American Dad!, Dollhouse, all good shows. Bravo Fox.

With a lead in of Brothers and 'Til Death I'm surprised this show has any viewers regardless of the quality of the show this season.

Dollhouse has no one to blame for the abysmal ratings but itself.

I think Dollhouse is fine. About on par with Buffy/Angel Season 2 and I enjoy watching it every week. Nice to know l'll get to at least finish the season.

re: FOX to air all ordered eps of Dollhouse
I must admit I do like the title of this thread.
If it does so badly on first-run TV but does well online and recorded to DVR, it probably doesn't matter what night it's on since the audience for this (with few exceptions being us who do watch it 9PM on FOX) chooses to watch it other ways.
Some shows are defined by their timeslots and are therefore 'appointment viewing', and some are just about the opposite.

I applaud the network for doing this and not shoving some cheap reality show in when ratings drop.
I don't watch Dollhouse, but it is nice to see a network follow through at least with its ordered episodes.

I still haven't finished watching my Blu-ray S1 set of this. I think I'll do that soon. I'm definitely going to pick up S2 on Blu-ray when it comes out. I hope they keep it around for another year, but it sounds like this is it. I'm glad they are going to finish the season though and give the series closure.

Its certainly looking like Fox backed the wrong horse. Would have much rather had a 3rd season of Terminator.

+1 on the thread title...
It also somehow now seems more appropriate that the lead in is "til death".
Why add the last bit when the quote starts with 'we're going to run all the episodes"?

But with half the profits going to WB the only way they could keep the show was if it did really, really well in the ratings.

I think Dollhouse is done for. Perhaps not wishing to make the mistakes of past management Fox is going to finish the 13 episodes on order and then part ways with Whedon and Co. on this one. I don't think the ratings have held up anywhere near as they hoped. I know it's Friday nights, but I think even SGU and Smallville are beating this (good for them!). Maybe they'll even air Epitath One as a finale (which I have yet to watch).
