Only one season left. Boston, Minny and St. Louis are gone. All swept.

I knew the Sox were going to lose to the Angles this year, but I thought they would have at least won one game. Oh well. The ALCS is shaping up to be epic. The Angels are playing for a fallen teammate the Yanks look like they have a real team this year and not a collection of All-Stars taking paychecks.

Should be good.

The way the Red Sox fell ass backwards into the playoffs the idea of them getting swept didn't shock me too much. I still would have bet on at least 4 games. I'm more surprised to see Papelbon implode like that.

Red Sox have a lot to look forward to next year. Bucholz has really come on and been the guy they thought he would be. Dice K should be healthy and a solid #3 starter. Lester is better than Beckett now but they're two guys you never want to have to see. Not sure if Wake is still pitching next year but finding a 5th starter shouldn't be too hard for this team.

Offense will probably see some retooling though.

^I think the offensive woes are a bit overrated. They didn't have a bad year, the just seemed to go into a rut at the wrong times. Considering this team had the second best record in the AL, I wouldn't think it's a big problem. They just slumped at the end of the season and carried it over into October.

Anyway, good to see the Yankees put away the Twins so fast. I really like the Twins and I'm hoping that they make a big move this offseason for a true ace. The lineup is solid and they happen to have a guy named Morneau coming back. Add a big pitcher and I wouldn't be surprised to see this team in the ALCS next year. Where they would get swept by the Yankees.

Anyway I'm happy to see Pavano on the losing end of the last game of the Twins season. That guy is a true piece of shit. I was just hoping the Yankees would tattoo him and get him hooked in the 2nd.

The ALCS is setting up to be a war. Can't wait.

Must have missed the outrage over the blown call last nice where Utley gets a single off a ball he fouled off himself which helped to set up the game winning sacrifice fly (and did he even beat the throw to first if we continue to pretend it didn't hit him?) Was the ump paid off?

Must have missed the outrage over the blown call last nice where Utley gets a single off a ball he fouled off himself which helped to set up the game winning sacrifice fly (and did he even beat the throw to first if we continue to pretend it didn't hit him?) Was the ump paid off?

The Ump actually admitted that Utley sold it well. If Utley would have paused, then he would have called the play dead, but because Utley ran, he let the play go on.

Chase Utley, Best Actor Oscar 2009:)

BravesMG
10-12-09, 04:27 PM
Really? I missed that Utley play entirely, and I was watching the game, just thought he squibbed out a hit. I guess that's what happens at 2 IN THE MORNING. I'm surprised the lateness of the game isn't getting more outrage.

LickTheABCs
10-12-09, 04:35 PM
Was the ump paid off?

If he was he was doing a terrible job at it. Worst strike zone of the postseason so far, and that's saying a lot.

Plus, with Utley, the guy's been hit buy 1,762 pitches, I don't think he even feels them anymore.

Wow - Rockies just got jobbed on another call at first.

I guess LA/Philly sounds better than LA/Colorado ;)

Because he's an idiot and probably wanted to see if it was a HR so he could celebrate on his way home... Or maybe he was worried about getting doubled off 2nd with 2 out?

This is a big game for the Dodgers with the NLCS starting Thursday (I think) and I assume game 2 on Friday? if there's a game 5, the top2 pitchers for either team probably wouldn't throw until games 3 and 4 and likely means only 1 of them would pitch twice.

Never count this team out. This team is beloved by the fans, because they're all good guys, not one jerk on the team.

I don't know what to think of the NLCS. On paper, the Phils are a better team, but the Dodgers did have the best record, and swept the Cards. But I still look at Randy Wolf and Padilla and wonder if these guys can hold up in a 7 game series against a great Phils lineup.

Should be a great series!

Most experts are probably going to say it will come down to the bullpens, which seems to favor LA. Lidges one-out performance last night was an encouraging sign, but probably not enough to convince anyone that he's "back".

Hell no they can't. Torre did the smart thing by working around Pujols and that's why they were able to keep the Cards down. Plus the Cards offense was slumping at the time. That's not the case with the Phillies. Phillies offense will be tough to stop.

But again, I feel that if the Phillies don't have a healthy lead late in the game, it can come back to bite them. We can talk about the sweet 9th inning comeback but they wouldn't have been in that position if they had a clean 8th inning.

I actually agree with this when this comes to the playoffs. As much as I am for a salary cap and hate to see small market teams selling their players every year, and the big market teams scooping them up, you do have 4 good teams playing right now.

You can't ask for a better series between the Yankees and Angels. This the one team that has the Yankees number over the years, so this should go 6 or 7 games. The Phils and Dodgers are going at it, part II, as this should be another great series.
