Seriously. Too many words. Most bigger than the actual film title. How many people are going to think this is called "Do You Have What It Takes?". Cute movie though. Out on 12/8.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Thank goodness I don't buy movies because of their cover.

I'm going to go ahead and assume that there is a "Subject to Change" notice lying around somewhere.

Pass.

I felt the same. Mainly because it's a stinkin' Nora Ephron movie. But several guy friends I know said they were dragged to see it by their wives or girlfriends, and that they didn't hate it. So I caught a matinee of it one day and really enjoyed it. Much more than I thought I would. Streep hits another home run and look for yet another Oscar nomination.

No way do they keep that cover. It's terrible.

Completely agree...there is NO WAY this will be the actual cover art....

That's what I thought the movie was called until I looked at the bottom.

Oh come on. :) You guys love those minimalist covers. Sure, the text being too big for that tagline sucks, but otherwise I don't see how it's the worst BD cover ever. If it was Criterion you'd be eating it up (pardon the pun).

Not subliminal at all, pretty clear what those are.

Even if it stuck, in no way would that be even close to the worst BD cover art. Groundhog Day has worse cover art, and that's just off the top of my head; I'm sure Echo Bridge or some other extremely-low-budget distributor has had a minimum-wage graphic designer wrest a worse monstrosity from Photoshop.

Additionally, I have almost no doubt they'll switch to this poster: http://www.impawards.com/2009/julie_and_julia_ver2.html

I've seen "Stripes" referred to as "I Want You" based on its cover.

At least "Groundhog Day" had the pictures of it's two stars on the cover. Bad pictures, yes. My point was, the casual shopper will walk right by this release as is.

Now you people WANT floating heads?! Cripes.Floating heads that aren't placed under the corresponding actor's name for no reason at all, plus awful Photoshop all over the place; icing on the cake would be if this art comes at the expense of a classic poster.

I was trying to remember Do You Have What It Takes and couldn't. My wife saw Julie and Julia and said it was pretty good. In any case it would only be a rental but yes it looks like testicles.

Um, no. I said at least "Groundhog Day" showed it's stars. Didn't say it was a great cover.

Again, from a MARKETING stand point, this was the worst cover I've ever seen. I'm sure it'll change.

It's different. It's like how Stephen King book is titled "Stephen King".

i actually perfer the first image, as its more classy. where as the second image is merely the Version C one sheet.
I will be buying this its a really well done movie, and Meryl Streep nails Julia Childs perfectly there were times watching the film i thought i was really watching Julia Childs

Yes, that's annoying, but I figured that was egos/agents wanting the biggest stars to be first in the listing and in the middle in the picture.

Yes, that's annoying, but I figured that was egos/agents wanting the biggest stars to be first in the listing and in the middle in the picture.Well, during contract negotiations the billing order is locked, with things like names above/below the title and in what order all being settled. Cover artists never bother to think about that when they're designing covers, which is why it always happens.DVDfile.com is showing this for the cover art now:

Yeah... like Danny Devito is always featured last billing (to my recollection) as "and Danny Devito as..." or just "and Danny Devito"

I'd be one of those guys if I were an actor. heh. Draw up my contract! :)

They should really look at the billing when they do the shots for the cover of the poster/DVD/Blu. It's really the photographer's fault for not compensating for this in most cases.

It's really the photographer's fault for not compensating for this in most cases. They don't even do shots anymore, they just take individual stills from the movie and compose them together in Photoshop. There was some photo gallery several months back illustrating how images including Clint standing in front of the car for Gran Torino and several other recent posters were taken straight out of the movie, no shoot required.

Don't worry, I've contacted the studio and told them that true BD fans don't want to see the original one-sheet used as the cover for a disc.

<img src="http://news.premiere.com/.a/6a00d8341c7a0853ef0115700ab745970b-800wi">

I've also told them to make the heads bigger in their new proposed cover.

Don't worry, I've contacted the studio and told them that true BD fans don't want to see the original one-sheet used as the cover for a disc. The (possibly?) new cover isn't a Photoshop bunchaheads job, though...it was just a later poster. I'd guess the eggs sheet is a teaser while the heads is the "real" poster.

Why would they do that? The billing is part of the movie contract. The movie cover art is designed to best sell a movie. The two have nothing to do with each other. That being said, I do wish the billing matched the covers more.

really, two round items nestled up against each other... below "Do you have what it takes?" doesn't suggest to you, "Do you have the balls?" No gutter needed there... besides since when has 'balls' and guts/fearlessness been a gutter topic?
