The Movie Death Thread

Ok, this made sound a bit morbid, but I find it quite interesting especially with so many celebrity deaths this year. Name a movie and cast members who have died, preferably a film released in the last 20 years.

I did this with Braveheart and found that Patrick McGoohan passed away this year. He played Edward The Longshanks, the main villian in the film.

I was also recently surprised to find out that Lane Smith died. He played the farmer dad in Son in Law.

CASABLANCA (1943): Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Paul Henreid, Claude Rains, Conrad Veidt, Peter Lorre, Sydney Greenstreet, Dooley Wilson, Leonid Kinskey, S.Z. Sakall, Marcel Dalio, John Qualen, Curt Bois, and, most recently, Joy Page (who died April 18, 2008).
Still alive: Madeleine LeBeau, who played Yvonne (well, at least according to IMDB).

I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind, but I could do millions of these.

If you are going to do old films, it would be more interesting to list who is still alive.

Re: The Movie Death Thread

Here's a more realistic challenge: what recent film (say, in the last five years) has the most deceased principles (writer, director, main actors)?

Interesting that you would post this picture. I had opportunity to tell someone about MESSAGE FROM SPACE recently and I got to thinking afterward about Vic Morrow and his death and I got sad all over again. And I was also just reading about him in the Dick Miller interview in the latest FilmFax. (Miller claims to have given Morrow the advice that got him his first acting job.) I always liked Vic, from "Combat" on. (I refuse to see TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE.)

And I almost had Owen Wilson, too.

Four People from Road House are longer alive-Patrick Swayze(Dalton), Chino "Fat" Williams(The guy Dalton give his beater car to before driving to the Double Duece), Sunshine Parker (Emmit), and Jeff Healey.

The thread is really about movies that had cast members that have since died, not necessarily on the set. With The Crow, I think Lee is the only prominent person who has died. Obviously we can't just list movies where one person has died, because there are just too many of those.

Re: The Movie Death Thread

I see your point, however every actor that has passed was in a movie, so there are tons of those. Passed during the movie, or after the movie is the same thing.

Everyone can name a movie that Bernie Mac was in.

Maybe this should be about "Obscure" actors that have passed that not everyone may know about.

You know, like the actors that are great, but haven't ever really had a lead role. By the way, what ever happened to Steve Buscemi, I remember a time around the movie Armageddon that he was in just about every movie.

Oh, no, it's too complicated. I think I'll stick to checking vitality status for the people involved in making silent films.

Superman 2 -

I was surprised to find that most of the cast are still alive except for:

Christopher Reeve

E G Marshall - He played the President of the United States.

No, the point was to name a (recent) movie in which multiple people associated with it have died.

No, the point was to note how surprising it is when one realizes that actors are mortal.

Re: The Movie Death Thread

Just watched a few that fit the criteria:

"Star Trek VI." Among the dead James Doohan, DeForest Kelley, Mark Lenard, and Brock Peters.

"Toy Story" lost Jim Varney, Joe Ranft, Robert Goulet, Mary Kay Bergman, Jonathan Harris and Wallace Shawn (but he got better.)

"A Bug's Life" lost Jonathan Harris, Joe Ranft, Madeline Kahn, Roddy McDowall
