Awesome, Awesome movie. Keep an eye out for Director Tomm Moore! I don't want to talk about the story, but i'll leave you all some characteristics that make up THE SECRET OF KELLS:

1. a beautifully animated cross between Michel Ocelot and Genndy Tartakovsky for children and adults.

2. Irish folklore/mysticism/fantastical/sci-fi/biblical/viking awesome mish-mash.

3. An amazing musical score (you can enjoy this movie with your eyes closed and just listen to the film)

4. While watching this movie, I thought of Terrance Malick, Darren Aaronofsky, Alexandro Jodorowsky, Russia's Night/Day Watch, The Secret of Roan Inish

The DVD was freaking hard to find. I think Disney bought the rights to this movie, therefore preventing further sale of the UK PAL DVD. I was only able to find the UK PAL DVD in Ireland sold at Trinity College of Dublin:

The DVD quality is perfect and has nice extras (director commentary, making of, short film, galleries, trailer), and English subtitles. The DVD has perfect anamorphic video and a perfect Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. And I mean...perfect.

I see some other Irish bookstores have it too. Who knows of a good Irish DVD etailer? Strangely not mentioned around....

Buena Vista distributed it, but in the UK, Optimum has the rights, so they should be releasing it sometime soon, probably before the end of the year on DVD.

Looks like it's on Blu as well.

Here are the French reviews for the Zone B Blu-Ray of Secret of Kells:

I'm a bit confused about this "Breton" audio they are listing. On the UK PAL DVD, there is Irish-accented English spoken, as well as some scenes with Breton (ancient Celtic language) spoken in which those scenes are English subtitled. Now does this French Blu-ray mean the same - the audio is French and Breton (in which those scenes would be French-subtitled)? Or do they mean that the audio is French OR Breton? I'm just trying to figure out if that Breton DTS 2.0 is the actual original English audio or not. Either way, this movie is meant to be heard in Dolby Digital 5.1 because the audio rocks. If all Blu-rays of this movie only has a 2.0 stereo, I would choose the DVD with DD 5.1 over the Blu-ray.
