Today I was in a used shop and I needed some information about a few DVDs, so I thought I'd call Best Buy and see what they go for new there, just to get an idea. Anyway, so I call Best Buy and ask them to look up the DVDs for me. When they first answered they included a new bit when answering the phone about how they'll take orders over the phone using credit cards. I didn't think much of it at first, and just ignored most of it.

I asked about the DVDs, they looked, and then asked if I'd like to pay for them right then over the phone. Is this something new that they are offering? It just seemed awful weird to me, and I've never heard them mention it before, as recently as just a few weeks ago.

did you call a physical store or some 800 number that goes to corporate customer service or something like that? if the former, that is weird. if the latter, im guessing you got the customer service that handles internet orders?

but yesh, kinda weird i guess.

We do orders over the phone now. It's called 'Express Lane'. You can also purchase it at one store and pick it up at another if you wanted to.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

Yeah, it was my local physical store. Looks like they do it now...weird.

I wouldn't trust a BB employee to take my CC# over the phone in a million years.

No offense of course.

True that. They cant even put a preorder aside for something that was preordered a month before release date. Or even go to the shelf, and bring back the item that was actually preordered, properly, for that matter.

How does that work? I ask because I was out of town during the Snow White SteelBook pre-order promotion and pre-ordered the Blu-ray but didn't realize until I got back that I won't be able to pick it up when it releases. If there were some way I could get it in town and applying my pre-order deposit to it that'd be great.
