I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell
Searched, but didn't find a thread on this movie, which is being released today.
I read the book a year or two ago. Tucker Max is a complete asshole, but there were some funny parts. I had no idea it was being made into a movie, let alone that it was coming out today. I just watched the trailer, and it looks absolutely horrendous.
Does anyone plan on seeing this?

I remember seeing the trailer a little while ago. I've read parts of the Tucker Max book and it seems pretty funny, and seems like his antics would translate well to a low budget trashy comedy. Not sure i'd actually watch this though.

I read part of the book and I honestly couldn't stand it. The author just seemed like he was trying too hard to be the crazy drunk college guy who everyone looks up to, ala Van Wilder, but without the charm. The movie doesn't look like it will fare much better.

Got a B+ in Entertainment Weekly, so I might give it a rental. I'm usually in agreement with them.

I don't know, the trailer didn't look so bad. Looked like a run of the mill National Lampoon's movie which are never really good but are always fun to catch on HBO.
Not surprising. The stories are just way too far fetched. No one can possibly get as drunk as he says he does and remember enough to write all these stories in perfect detail. For the most part I'm guessing that he has nights that start off the way he says they do and then he makes stuff up as he goes along.
Fake or not, I think they're pretty funny. Typical college guy humor... of course it's kind of sad because he's like 40, but whatever.

While Ill agree, he probably "souped" up the stories for artistic license, I can believe the gist of them. Been through very similar things back when I was in college so don't I think its too far fetched, which I think is the reason I found the book funny. But again, Ill agree that this movie looks pretty horrid. I had free tickets to premier and didnt go.

Re: I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell
I met Tucker back in 2003, when he came to a JCW wrestling show, and thought he was kind of a jerk. He didn't want to pay to get in because he was going to be a guest judge for a bikini contest we had that night. No problem but then he wanted all his friends to get in for free as well. In the end he wouldn't be a judge so his friend did it instead. I don't remember the exact details but I heard that after the show they were driving drunk & throwing cans out the window when the police stopped them. They might have spent the night in jail but like I said it was too long ago to remember the details.

Finally got around to seeing this on Showtime's free On Demand weekend for Comcast... I thought it was pretty good for what it was trying to be. Could have been better, but I enjoyed watching it.
I was surprised I didn't find Tucker to be quite as big of an asshole as I thought he would be going in. The real jerk of the movie was Drew. No way a girl, especially a stripper, would put up with that bullshit for as long as she did and invite him back to her place of residence where her 7 year old son is. And then the guy keeps the act up at the wedding? Seriously, you just bagged a hot, one of the few relatively decent strippers in the whole world, and you still act like someone pissed in your cornflakes? Get over it.

Why do the studios keep spending good money to pump out this ignorant shit when in 90 days or less it'll be in the $5 bin at WallyWorld? -kd5-

P.S. It wasn't produced by any of the major studios.

Doesn't take much to see that if it hits the bargain bins so quickly, it obviously didn't do very well, and more than likely didn't sell very well, but that doesn't stop them from making more. Didn't think I'd have to explain that. -kd5-

Because as mentioned earlier, that doesn't mean the studio didn't make money off of it.
