Supernatural -- "Free to Be You and Me" -- 9/24/09

Supernatural

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

Sam wants to give up hunting for angels and demons, but a mysterious visitor (Adrianne Palicki) changes his mind; Dean attempts to locate the archangel Raphael, who may know God's location.

Ohhh, Tyra from Friday Night Lights is on this episode!

Anyways, finished watching last week's episode tonight and it will be interesting to see how long they play out Sam and Dean being apart.

Can't wait! The whole idea of them teaming up with God is pretty bad ass to me. +1 for Tyra too.

Loved the twist with Sam in this episode. I did not see that coming. Also I can not wait for next week's episode. I know I have to, but ever since I saw the first promo pic from that episode I have been dying to see it and the trailer at the end was great. I am fairly certain there is no way at this point it can live up to my expectations.

Also Jeremy Carver who wrote this episode has clearly never been to Waterville, ME.

What tipped you off, the black sheriff or the whore house?

Re: Supernatural -- "Free to Be You and Me" -- 9/24/09

I called the Sam thing a few seasons ago, especially at the end of season 4 when Ruby said to him "It always had to be you Sam"

This season is great, I'm forseeing a Lucifer possessed Sam having to fight a Michael posessed Dean at some point.

I can't think of another show, especially a genre show, that's consistently gotten better over a five season run and improved the overall story line as well.

This show just never fails to disappoint, IMO. Great music, storyline, acting, humor, etc.

I wish this show wasn't so ignored by being on the CW.

I'm really digging this season too. I dig all the angels and demons stuff. It feels a smidge like Preacher, which is not a bad thing. They're batting a thousand so far.

IMO, the only other show that comes close is Angel.

That was what I was thinking too.

And the shows have gone in the opposite direction in that Angel had to drop the serialization in it's fifth season for more stand alone episodes whereas Supernatural has become more serialized.

I thought the episode was great.

I wish they'd go back to a new monster every week. There wasn't even really a bad guy this week, unless you count Rafael.

"Eat it Twilight"

Great episode. Castiel was comedy gold from his facial expressions in the whore house to his plan when to talk to to sheriff.

i do love the main storyline , but a freak of the week episode every now and then is good to break things up

I do not agree with this, the show is so heavily serialized at this point, a freak of the week would come across very poorly. Look at the first half of Angel Season 5 when they were told to go freak of the week - awful. Once they knew they were getting canned and they went back to the main storyline - awesome.

I'm tired of the demons & angels. Give me a ghost or something. What would be cool is if Castiel helped Dean take down a ghost, or maybe help him with the Trickster. Or if Castiel took down that demi-god / scarecrow from the first season.

Re: Supernatural -- "Free to Be You and Me" -- 9/24/09

I think that it would be cool if they did a variation on the monster of the week where we see how the monsters react to the apocalypse. Like the demons start possessing vampires or Dean and Sam have to team up with something they would usually kill because the demons are overwhelming everything, human and monster alike.

I was thinking that, too. Enlisting the help of other baddies.

So eventually Sam (Lucifer) will fight Dean (Michael). Freakin. Awesome.

Am I the only one who thinks it just might be possible that Castiel is actually God?
