I've read pretty much all of his books. Just finished Magical Thinking and about to start Sellevision. So what does everyone think of his writing?
I've got to say I saw Running with Scissors the movie a while ago when it came out and I enjoyed it, but I didn't really have an interest to read the book, but a friend was highly recommending I read Dry, his second memoir. Once I finally picked it up, I couldn't stop reading. His two short story collections Possible Side Effects and Magical Thinking are a good way to test the waters, even though the individual stories are hit and miss.
I'd rank them favorite to least favorite
A Wolf at the Table
Dry
Possible Side Effects
Running with Scissors
Magical Thinking
Also his brother John Elder Robison's book Look Me in the Eye is fantastic and really intriguing.
