I just got the ANTICHRIST PAL DVD from artpopdvd.com today!
http://www.artpopdvd.com/DVD/48866.aspx.
Excellent DVD quality! Beautiful anamorphic video and atmospheric DD 5.1 English. And the Russian subtitles are forced (can be turned off depending on dvd player/computer). (there is also a Russian DD 5.1 and DTS dub).

with the UK disc being pushed to January 2010, this I guess is a cheaper option for people that are curious.
Any word on if the Russian disc is cut at all?

Is the UK Blu-Ray also delayed until 2010?

I just made a note to the specs. Russian subtitles are forced when watching it in English. The subs can come off depending on your dvd player/computer dvd player....

Some thoughts I had, and a general scorecard of the more controversial/graphic aspects (NOTE: now with protected SPOILERS):
- What little I've seen of von Trier's work hasn't done much for me, and ANTICHRIST resulted in the same
- The first sixty percent of the movie is comprised primarily of snooze-inducing psycho-babble and relationship blather, while the last forty percent sees the introduction of some elements of a rather routine suspense/thriller (including reminding me of THE SHINING for a couple of minutes)
- Three acts of uncomfortable viewing with regard to animals (if you grew up on a farm or around animals then maybe not too uncomfortable), and one additional act of being mean to a bird
- One brief shot of an erect penis early in the film; later on a brief scene showing an erect penis, followed by a hand-job, and ejaculation of blood
- Intense female masturbation (not too graphic) followed by woman getting slapped twice, and two shots of female full frontal nudity
- Female genital mutilation in extreme, detailed, and graphic close-up
- Other than the above, some general scenes of intense sex (not overly graphic), and some scenes of violence not uncommon to many films
- Generally speaking, to me all the fuss about this film seems much ado about nothing
- The performances are fine, the cinematography is fine, and the sound design seemed thoughtful
- Never found it interesting, didn't care about the characters, didn't care about the story which I found more nonsensical than horrific/disturbing. The first half moved rather slow.
- If it were French, it would be a not so good entry in the recent wave of French horror (all of which would rank higher on my scorecard)
- I seem to recall that Norwegian film NABOER from a few years ago having a disturbing scene involving incredibly violent sex, and no one made a fuss about that movie
- Calling the film a masterpiece seems silly, likewise all the special attention this film has gotten seems a misuse of everyone's time and energy
- I'd recommend spending your money instead on Russia's THE BANISHMENT (2007) and Australia's LONG WEEKEND (1978)...both films came readily to mind while watching this von Trier's effort
- And I still don't get what all the fuss is about, yeah the female genital mutilation being shown up close and in detail is "unique" (Val Lewton and Co. wouldn't have shown a thing and yet it would have been much more horrifying), but otherwise...the experience of watching ANTICHRIST will evaporate rapidly for me

I've never bought from that site before. Can someone please share their experience with the company?

You needn't have any reservations in dealing with artpop. I've used them multiple times and everything has been just fine. Even though artpop is somewhat new, their previous incarnation was alldvd.ca...so they've been around for a while. My experiences with alldvd.ca earlier, and now artpop have all been first-rate....fast shipping, excellent customer service, etc.

flix, you might want to spoiler those bullets as some might find it too revealing.you know how it is here. I'm looking forward to the theatrical release because everything I've seen from Trier I've liked. not loved but liked.

Hey BuddhaWake, okay sure thing I went back and put a spoiler shield on the more sensitive information. I figured my bolded warning was enough, but I get your drift about going a little further just to be safe.

Artpop is based in Canada, but since you are in the U.S, your package will ship out of Buffalo, NY. Can't say for sure when it'd ship, maybe Monday, most likely Tuesday, no later than Wednesday.

artpopdvd is the best Russian DVD site, and also an excellent supplier of obscure and new Eastern European dvds...They are extremely fast. I live in NYC so if I order a DVD, I usually get it within the same week...and they are friendly and will help you find a title you are looking for as well.
No special features on the DVD. Like I said, excellent DVD video and audio quality!

i noticed this is playing in theaters in DC starting Oct 23, and noticed they have a tag mentioning "no one under 18 admitted". I've actually only seen one of his movies (Dogville) and that bored the shit out of me, but this looks interesting, see in theaters or just get it on dvd?

It's All Region, but it's also PAL, which Toddly clearly stated twice in the thread title and once in the OP.
There is also a warning to make sure your player plays PAL discs on ArtPopDVD's page for Antichrist.

im a noob, so i dont know what PAL means, i finally got it to work on another dvd player though. is there a way to turn the subtitles off via the menu?
I really want to pick up the current Russian disc, but I also want to hold out for the BD releases overseas.
I'm thinking about purchasing a Region Free BD Player sometime soon, so that will be an option for me.

I also heard it is on IFC pay-per-view. Is someone here who has seen both versions and is able to tell whether this US version has missing scenes or other similar censorship shenaningans?
