Supernatural -- "Good God, Y'all" -- 9/17/09

Supernatural

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

Ordinary citizens of a small town fall under a spell that makes them believe that they are demons and causes them to commit murder. Sam and Dean search for a way to end the violence.

This sounds like they are going back to a stand alone episode. Fine with me and I'm sure a few of you are happy about this as well.

don't get me wrong, I love this show, but the biggest complaint is when they totally recast baddies from previous seasons... Ruby... Meg... I understand it's likely a cost-cutting move, and can be somewhat justified as demons swap host bodies, but it's like "huh? who? what now? who is this again?"

Ruby is gone from the show. For good (apparently). Meg was recast because of obvious reasons. Unless they came back as ghosts, there is no way for the original actress to reprise the role.

Sadly, NBC and Fox are getting watched tonight and Supernatural and Vampire Diaries will get watched tomorrow.

Yes, Meg had to be recast, but I think the reference was to the fact that Katie Cassidy was replaced by Genevieve Cortese as Ruby in a cost-cutting measure (as confirmed by Eric Kripke), which I think hurt the show a bit last season because Katie Cassidy is a better actress.

Wasn't she essentially the daughter of yellow-eyed demon?

I actually thought the actress who played Meg last week did a good job mimicking the original performance. Genevieve Cortese, on the other hand, did not even attempt to create something remotely similar to Katie Cassidy's Ruby. She was almost unbearable to watch...but we don't have to worry about that now! Bring on tonight's episode!!

I think picking new actors to play old characters is stupid. Even with the ability for demons to inhabit other bodies. They ought to just introduce a brand new character.

I love this show. We got the start of the Four Horsemen.

The emotional talks between Dean and Sam at the end of every episode is starting to lose it's luster quick.

Enjoyable episode. However, Sam and Dean figured it all out a bit too easily.

Agreed. I could use a few cliffhangers throughout the season...still love this show so much though. Thought it was funny to see Titus Welliver after Mark Pellegrino's appearance last week. Can't wait to see all four of the Horsemen in action.

So Lucifer brought the Black Rock to the island to prove War wrong? I hope Hurley shows up as Famine.

Solid episode. I wonder if they'll be able to use War's ring for anything?

I have to disagree with this. I like that they move forward with the same characters. It helps evolve the storyline. Otherwise it's another "Heros" show where there are new characters everyweek and people bitching that they should kill off most of the cast because it's too many. At least this way we're emotionally involved in the original character without a ton of backstory.

Totally agree on this one, it's getting really old.

I think it's wearing on Dean as well, cuz he made an "Aww not this shit again" face when Sam started talking. Overall i thought it was a good episode and i can't wait for next week.

I agree. It was good, but main story of the episode needed more room to breath. Ellen was great but they should have given Jo a little more screen time. She was practically non-existent in the episode.

My friend and I were just talking about this over lunch today. Meg from season 1 but she isnt even really Meg. It kinda ruins the impact.

Glad to see Ellen and Jo again. Not sure why they waited so long to bring them back.
