I've recently heard a lot of bad things about Magnavox TV's. Are they really that bad?

That's funny, I have a 32" Phillips Maganvox TV that I am very happy with, what seems to be the problem?

I have a 25" that has worked great for 7+ years, and I bought a 36" that is wonderful last November.
Other than replacing broken remote on older one (really have to press hard for volume up button on remote to work), have never had a problem with either.

The 32" or 36" models took a nasty hit when it was reviewed by Sound and Vision or some other video magazine recently, I don't remember. Their geometry was flawed and there were other nitpicks as well. I have a 27" model that I received straight from the factory as a settlement to a dispute I had with Best Buy about five years ago. Best Buy does not have a Consumer Relations department, they have lawyers instead. So I ended up with the best 27" model that was current. You would not see this model or its successor at a BB or CC anymore as it does not fit their 27" pricing profile.
It's not a bad picture and holds its own against the 27" Sony upstairs. Still, my next tv will not be a Magnavox and will probably be much more expensive.

Too many people online just repeat what they have read, rather than posting from their own experience. It seems like everyone bashes TVs made by Magnavox, RCA, GE, etc. Though I now own a Hitachi Ultravision RPTV, for several years I had a 35 inch GE TV which worked flawlessly. I sold it to my sister and it still works great. It looks great with DVDs, too! In fact, this TV came out before 36 inch models were even available. Just because a product isnt made by Sony or Toshiba does not mean that it is going to be a piece of crap. My own experience with other brands tells me different.
