You have to sign up for a year of audiable (something I was already going to do). There are a number of Ipods. The nano's they have that qualify are the 4th generation. I got a 16GB one for $35 shipped. They have a number of other mp3 players that qualify too.

For some reason, the link to qualifying products doesn't work. You can check out the top 100 qualifying items at the next link. You will also note that the different colored iPods are different prices.

Yeah that is the cheapest plan, I've been a platinum member since 2005 and have no plans to ever quit, I love it.

I signed up under my wife's name because I have been a member before. Some books are defiantly better "buys" than others, so if you do join, you want to be sure you spend the credits on things that you couldn't get for cheaper buying used cds.

So besides the 15 bucks a month you spend you have to spend more to get stuff? The 15 bucks a month doesn't give you unlimited access to downloads? I'm a bit confused about how this works and the site didn't make it any clearer.

Unlimited downloads... that's madness!

15 bucks a month will give you 1 credit per month and 1 credit usually is 1 book; they do have a limited number of books that require 2 credits but those are rare.

So I'm paying a monthly fee for one download? No thanks!

This is a really good deal. That is if you don't have time to read.

So I'm paying a monthly fee for one download? No thanks!I look at it this way: You pay a total of $179.40 (12*14.94) and you get $100 off of an Ipod, flip video, gps, or any number of other things and 12 audiobooks. Overall, it is a great deal if you like audiobooks (which I do). I am going to end up spending $214.35 for a 16 GB 4th generation Ipod nano and 12 audio books. Pretty good deal to me.

yeah, the way i see it, if you wanted an audible account and an ipod, then this is a good deal. i only want the ipod, so not really a good deal for me. but thanks for sharing!

1. Library
2. Emusic (cheaper if you get 2/mo and MP3 format)
3. Audible

The one benefit of audible is that they have a way larger selection of books than the my first 2 choices.

That is a good deal, when audio books usually cost 40-50 dollars if it is unabridged. Audible has so much to choose from and always has the newest books for download. I wish they did have unlimited down loads I could clean up my wish list, the thing I like about Audible is that even when you cancel your account you can still access your purchases.

Have you looked at the prices on audiobooks? $15 per book is a really good deal.

Plus an account gives you a discount on books purchased without credits, and you have access to sales that Audible has every couple months, in which prices are knocked down to $5-10.

2. Emusic (cheaper if you get 2/mo and MP3 format)

The problem with Emusic is all the books I want cost two credits; $20 for one book isn't that great a deal except on really long epics. As much as I love getting the books in MP3, I prefer Audible because of the selection and cheaper price-per-book.

And of course Librivox (http://librivox.org/) for public domain books.

Just an update for those who might care, I noticed that the new Nanos, classic, touch and shuffle qualify for the $100 off. I think the new 32 GB touch is $180 w/ the discount.
