Surviving Disasters - SpikeTV Discussion
Tuesday's 10pm
I caught the first episode last week - Surviving an Airline Hijacking
This episode was great - I like the host, how the whole scenario is set up, how he guides the group of people through the process, expert input.
Stuff I learned:
- don't just charge a hijacker, there may be a "sleeper" within the group of passengers that will attack you from behind.
- Wrap a jacket around your arm / use the seat cushion as a shield to protect yourself from a terrorist with a knife.
- use your keys, pens, pencils etc... and attack the windpipe.
- attack in pairs one guy goes in to block the knife - the other guy comes over the top and takes out the terrorist.
This week they had - How to Survive a High Rise Office Fire.
Another great episode!
- Tie cat5 cables together to make a rope you can repel down with
- use fire stairs ONLY!! they are pressurized and reinforced against collapse
- If you can't get out into the hallway - go through the walls
- How to move against a panicked stampede of people.
Anyone else watching?

I liked the home invasion one... I have to remember to resist turning on the lights - so I can keep my competitive advantage over an intruder.
The avalanche one looks good. I'll watch it within the next couple of days.

I loved the Nuclear Fallout out one last night. That has to be the best episode yet, they give you a lot of good tips. I was shocked that they showed you how to hot wire a car step by step.

I just finished the "mall terrorist takeover" liked how they gave you a quick AK-47 lesson - how to make a silencer for a gun.
