In the next few years will video stores get rid of all of their DVDs and replace them Blu-ray? Will they just shut their doors because of the costs involved in replacing their stock with Blu-ray?
I still recall several of the ma & pa video stores going out of business during the late nineties while the video business was in a lull. VHS had leveled off and DVD hadn't quite caught on.
The larger chains with the deeper pockets got rid of their VHS titles around 2003 replacing some of the more popular library titles but focused mostly on new releases. The selection of DVDs compared to VHS had diminished considerably during the transition.
With the video store model fading out with cheap kiosks and practical downloading on the horizon, will we be seeing the last of the video stores?
Will they stick around to switch to all-Blu-ray or just call it quits?
