ok, now warner has pushed it to a point where i am furious!!
they are releasing a 1disc dvd with theatrical cut only and
a 3disc bluray set which includes directors cut as well!!
are they really that desperate to sell bluray!!??
the only justice for that shady move is that the movie failed at
the box office
since about 90% of customers still purchase dvd and don`t feel
like being "forced" into bluray, i hope i am not that only one
extremely upset about this release. well, i guess another email
to the customer department, which will as always remain unanswered
anyhow!

Wonder what import options there will be for this release.

But yeah, the studios really need to think of another way to push BR instead of alienating the same people that propped their business up for ten years. At least put out a limited multiple disc DVD release. It's the wrong kind of incentive to encourage switching over formats.

Ya know. I am not even mad at this point cause honestly the Blu-ray looks like shit also and Warner Brothers has the worst New Release releases of any major or, hell ,even most independent companies. The people putting together need to be fired or worse.
This is just an inexcusable release for DVD AND Blu-ray owners.

They will always give more advantage to the newer and more advanced format so I don't understand why be too upset with this. It has always happened and when a more advanced format than Blu-ray comes out they will do it again.

I'm loving all the extras on the Blu and this will be a first day purchase for me. Too bad that the release comes in December though. It's almost 7 months after the movie was released at the theaters.

Not to threadcrap, but why would WB pull shenanigans like this with such an awful film? I could see them doing that with a hit film like The Hangover that will be in high demand on release day, but T:S is the kind of movie you'll find on the 2 for 10 rack in a couple of months after release. Moreover, T:S's grey-on-grey color scheme lacks the visual oomph that Blu-Ray is intended to showcase.

According to the DVD actve link in the posts the UK edition on dvd will also only be getting the theatrical cut as well with the DC a blu-ray exclusive also.
Hmmmm...I know that this will make me think twice about supporting ANY Warner Bros theatrical production in the future and when I do go out to see a Warner Bros movie I think I will pay for another movie and then go see the WB movie without them getting a cent of my money. Lets see how they like getting F'ed in the A .
I dont know how else those naughty doggies will learn.

I was fully prepared to buy Salvation on DVD, but giving the SD a 1-disc, and the blu-ray a 3-disc is just a disgrace. Unless someone gets a steelbook of this movie, it ain't happening.

Yeah a couple of featurettes on the Blu-ray is definitely what I call loaded!
Who needs those days of multiple audio commentaries and full-length documentaries. We got 2 featurettes!!!!!
I remember a day not too long ago when a title like this could have came out on DVD with all the same features and it still would have been a very very weak DVD.
I dont see why any Blu-ray owner could be happy with this release either.

If you look at the current sales numbers blu-ray is up by nearly 80% from last year and DVD is down almost 25% from this time last year.

As much as it sucks it seems like the studios want blu-ray to be the future for DVD collectors. Leaving off the director's cut on the SD is a bitch move, but Warner also probable realizes that 80% of the people who purchase the SD won't even know that a director's cut is blu-ray only, or won't care.

I'm fine with what they're doing because I realize technology moves forward. I had a massive VHS collection, kept the stuff that's not on DVD and upgraded the rest.

If it's not people complaining about DVDs being replaced they're complaining that there's newer versions of Windows that isn't XP.

I didn't see this in theaters and was going to buy the DVD, but since they're screwing us DVD owners I won't be doing that. Which is fine. Terminator has been mediocre at best without Arnold Schwarzenegger anyway.

Hey, if you want to hate on the BD specs just to try and make yourself feel better, knock yourself out....

However, you might want to consider a few things first:
1. The running times of the featurettes have not yet been announced, and the one not on the DVD (Re-Forging the Future) could be lengthier and better then the one the DVD did get...
2. The contents of the "Resist or Be Terminated” Video Archive on disc 2 were not detailed...this also could be extensive so it seems rather silly to just dismiss it beforehand...
3. The "Maximum Movie Mode" with Focus Points on disc 1 could also be quite a worthwhile feature, as this same extra was quite well received and highly lauded on the WATCHMEN BD release....

This isn't even considering that apparently the director's extended cut will only be on BD....right now as a BD owner, on paper I am happy with what I see for this release...people really should wait to complain once ALL the details emerge, but of course, that is not the true way of teh interwebz....

funny, everyone who doesn`t mind this shady release policy owns a bluray player
at least there are some more considerate bluray owners who still
don`t support warners release policy even though they don`t purchase dvd anymore,but
still feel it is a shit move!
i am the last one who minds better new technology, but is it sooo difficult
to release a dvd product that also makes the many customers, who still
purchase that format happy?
watchmen was also released as a 2 disc special edition with a nice lenticular
slipsleeve on dvd, so i guess warner is very much capable of bringing
out a satisfactory dvd set if they want to!!
do you think it will be more people now switching to bluray because
the want the terminator salvation directors cut, or more dvd buyers
pissed off at warner!?
for gods sake, at least release the directors cut on single disc like they did with
the friday the 13th killer cut!!
this is really fuckin over dvd owners big time and i hope it hurts them financially!!
why are other studios bringing out summer blockbusters like transformers 2, star trek, etc in 2disc sets as well!? probably because they realize that
there is still a strong market they don`t want to lose out on.
don`t forget you are in a dvd forum for film fanatics, who will usually be the
first ones to switch to new technology, but i am sure the average buyer
mass market still wants the dvd.
