Is this the only thread for Gerard Butler's GAMER?
I'm surprised no one is talking about GAMER. Anyone gonna go see this?
I just realized that Gerard Butler does wonders when he speaks. He did it in 300, and now he's gonna do it again in GAMER. I love the tv teaser clip of GAMER where he says "Let me loosh!" (translation: Let me loose!)

heard an ad for it the other day:
"the last time gerard butler kicked this much butt...was 300 years ago."
*edit* ah ha!

All the ads make it look like a steaming pile of crap. But it's from the guys who made Crank and Crank 2: High Voltage so I may just have to check it out.

I'll see it just to check out Michael C. Hall in the villain role. If the film sucks, it'll still be worth watching to see his performance.

Yeah, in for Hall as well, but Ive heard its supposed to be in the vein of Crank so that may make this much better than expected.

My chief concern is that one of the co-directors said in an interview that this would be less "cartoonish" and have more "narrative structure" than the CRANK films. Sorry, but cartoon gags are what I want from these guys, not "narrative structure."

I would have checked it out just for Michael C. Hall but when I saw him doing that stupid little dance in the trailer, I figured this film will be just as bad as the Crank films.

Re: Is this the only thread for Gerald Butler's GAMER?
I was a bit confused by the Gamer trailer at first because I didn't know about Dexter at the time. I was thinking "Who was this Michael C. Hall dude and why is he getting top billing?" It's the same when I saw Sam Worthington getting top billing for Terminator 4.

When I first heard the title of this film, I thought it was going to be an all-male sequel to Splash.

It was OK. Similar ADD style as Crank but not as over the top...which was too bad because there wasn't a lot of substance here...lots of cool ideas that don't go anywhere and aren't fleshed out... also, the action wasn't as crazy as I'd hoped for. Sure it's got some gore and gratuitous nudity but not much else... however I thought Michael C. Hall did a great job chewing the scenery and the song/dance bit while Butler is kicking ass was the highlight... I just wish Hall, Crews and Sedgwick had more to do. Decent for a cheap matinee but not nearly as entertaining as the off the wall Crank 2.

That's too bad. I was hoping for more Crank 2 goodness. I guess matinee it is.

Gamer - 7/10
Very entertaining, pretty good cast, lots of action, violence, & just very weird at times....
Then again it's from the creators/directors of both Crank films so I'm not surprised.... lol

I sat through this film entirely bored. I never thought I would ever say this, but any sort of narrative or plot structure does not work well for Neveldine/Taylor. Pathology anyone? I spent more time paying attention to my watch than I did of the movie itself.
I got more of a kick from seeing most of their past cast members make cameo appearances (even Lloyd Kaufman himself) than the actual on-going events of the film. It was almost a chore to sit through, too bad as I have enjoyed the Crank franchise.
Can someone just give N/T the money just to do a big-budget Troma film already and let's call it a day?

I actually enjoyed this a lot. I went in expecting a cheesy action movie and that's exactly what it was nothing more, nothing less. Plus come on Michael C. Hall in a choreographed dance scene=awesomeness haha.
