Looks like Amazon is getting into the used-trade game. I haven't had a chance to check out their prices, but since I have been unloading a lot of discs I may give this a once-over.
Anyone use the service and have any thoughts? How does it compare to DVD Planet, Second Spine, Warehouse, etc?

just made a trade in order - 50 cent difference from wherehouse.com
however they offer free UPS shipping and i could do alot more with an amazon gift card than i can with transworld credit

I got $400 in credit from them when they first started this by trading in eveything I no longer had any use for, like the James Bond DVD sets and some others (since I'm upgrading many to Blu Ray). I used it to bring down the price of my Denon receiver. I'm about to do the same with some more. Right now I'm at 44 DVDs for $250 credit. I;m trying to bring down the price of an Oppo.

I have some trade-ins on their way to Amazon right now. While I would consider their prices mediocre, the convenience makes up for it in my book.
It was as simple as searching for the item, clicking the "Trade-in" button, then printing out the (pre-paid) shipping label and dropping a box of DVDs at my local UPS store.
2-3 days after my shipment is received, a credit for my items will magically appear in my Amazon account.

I looked at their prices quickly and agree they seem low, but heck, I don't know if I'm ever going to get around to selling stuff on my own so I should take another look.

I've sent off like six boxes or so. It's on the up and up. However, one day they buy it for like 6 bucks and then the next day it might say 4.50. So you have to pick and choose when to send something off.

Has anyone tried this service in the last couple of days?
I can't get a UPS shipping label to print (keep getting an error on their end). I just wanted to see if this was a problem that others are having, too.

be careful with doing trades w/ amazon. i used this about a month ago and had added some movies to be traded in. However, once i was about to 'complete' the transaction a few of the movies prices had dropped and it had now been 'switched' from dvd to bluray. I was also notified that a few dvds were 'not the ones they wanted' (was trading in an older version of Evil Dead on dvd). So from a $55 trade in, down to $17.
THEN, when i received my evil dead dvd back the case was smashed and the dvd was cracked. I called amazon and i was told by 3 different reps that the trade-ins are done through a 3rd party, and not directly through amazon.
So, just be very careful when using amazon for trade-ins.

Well, my trade-in transaction just completed without issues, and faster than expected. I shipped off a whole bunch of TV-on-DVD sets last week. This morning UPS delivered them to the trade-in vendor, and they have already been checked in and the full credit has been applied to my account.
No problems with prices being changed or titles being switched or rejected, and I was expecting the credit to take 1-2 business days to post to my account but it posted immediately.

I answered my own question. I hit the option to add an additional label, and suddenly both work. Who knows.
I'm trading in a bunch of DVDs I now also own on Blu-ray. Why not get something out of them as opposed to letting them collect dust?

The trade-in values do seem pretty low, but I am in the process of simplifying my life and need to get rid of this clutter, mayhem and foolishness. I'm considering doing this. Thanks OP! I didn't know this existed.

It was mostly noirs that DVDPlanet didn't list on their QuoteMachine and that I needed to clear some shelf space for... My discs were spotless, I doubt that they accept PV... But, I dunno.
