Just got an email saying that all the Cinematic Titanic DVDs will be on sale for 25% off. $15 was a bit much for these, but I might bite on a few more with the sale.

Just to be clear, the sale technically starts Aug 27, Thursday morning at midnight. The email initial confused me with by stating the sale starts Wednesday at midnight.

At 25% off the DVDs should be $11.24.

Are these factory-pressed DVDs?

I've been thinking about buying some of these, and now I'm glad I waited.

Yeah, this is clearly A Sign.

I nearly peed myself over the "it's like kissing God" bit during the live show, so I'll have to pick up whatever film it's from. Anyone have any other recommendations? Any idea as to which of the titles might go out of print first? (Still kicking myself for never getting around to buying the MST3K version of Beginning of the End.)

I've only seen Doomsday Machine, which I enjoyed and recommend. I just wish their interactions were a little looser.

That line is from The Wasp Woman.

The one I think is the funniest is Blood of the Vampires so I highly recommend that one.

I just wish they would release some more new ones already!

They are taking a break over the summer, according to their blog.

The last DVD they released came out in March, so it's been a long break.

(I know they have been touring too, but they do need to release discs more often.)

For seven items? That's not so bad. Remember, this is a pretty rinky-dink operation, not Amazon or DDD.

I ordered Blood of the Vampires, The Wasp Woman, and Doomsday Machine. Shipping came to $5.88.

Still, that works out to around $1.55 per DVD, which isn't that bad.

I'm just cheap and apparently spoiled by Amazon and the like...
Haven't dismissed the deal, just pondering it a bit

Yeah, I saw them do it live in Boston right before they pressed it. It is a little slow in places earlier in the film, but as the pace picks up at the end, the last 20 minutes or so, people were literally falling out of their seats laughing. As the DVDtalk review indicates, some of the best material in the film, and in fact imo some of the best work these guys have ever done is in reaction to the usage of actors in blackface as a number of the household servants. The reason i spoilered this, is that most of the audience didnt have any idea that this was coming, and being liberal Boston, well, Somerville, people were horrified at the blatant racism in the film(personally, i'm not sure it was racist on the part of the filmmakers, I think it was made in the Phillipines and they were just too cheap to fly in any black actors, ha). In any case, the audience's shock was a perfect setup for the nonstop hilarious riffing on that all throughout the film.

One other thing I would highly recommend is to sign up for the mailing list, that way you get advance notice and advance ticket purchase opportunities if they come to town with a live show. I can't recommend the live version enough, they are great in person, and stay afterwards to sign autographs and take pictures with fans.

Yeah, I saw them live in Atlanta back in May. They did a movie called Danger on Tiki Island which was hilarious. They are also doing two other movies on their live tour - The Alien Factor and East Meets West - so when they release their next DVD, I expect it'll be one of these three movies.
