If this lives up to the hype (of which I'm fully invested), this will be a major victory for all parties involved. Developer, publisher, and (most of all) player.
I seriously cannot wait!

This is what excites me the most:
It implies the game may have been designed with Super Metroid/Metroid Zero Mission style sequence breaking in mind.
MINIMALIST - Complete the game with less than 13% of the items / 10 Points

Yeah, they've said as much. There was also a rumored speed run ach that didn't make the final list.

One nice thing about the achievements : They show how close you are to getting the cumulative ones (a' la Gears of War 2).
This game looks to be not only perhaps the best XBLA game ever, but qite possibly the best game of the summer. As an act of faith, I'm buying it without trying the demo first. Seriously, there's no way I won't be getting it, so why have any pretense?

Nate Drake seems to have a lot of brothers these days. Can't wait for this game.

Yup.
I mean look at that t-shirt over the belt-buckle. That means this guy is in on the weekly fashion trends. Look out ladies! And that purposeful day of Don Johnson stubble that is so meticulously kept? Hot. I bet this guy quips witty quite often during the game too. This is the mother fucking guy you want at you Monday Night Football kegger.

<--- Thinks for a moment about buying a 360.
Do 360s that are only used to play XBLA games crap out less often? Any hint at a PS3 version? I could live with a year of exclusivity, but I think I NEED to play this game.

I am so looking forward to this.
It's also worth noting that although it's based on a book by Orson Scott Card, the game itself was written by Peter David, who has written for Babylon 5 and has written a ton of Star Trek novels and comic books.

And I also bought a 360 "just to play XBLA games".....that didn't last very long.

Heck, I'd buy a 360 today if I had some inkling that the next Xbox would be fully backwards compatible. Then I wouldn't worry so much about it crapping out.

I read the book a couple weeks ago, and according to the acknowledgments, the Mustard brothers (Chair) were the ones who came to Card with the idea of a future American Civil War and asked him to write a novel about it, so they could make a game about it. Or something.

While there's still no review of this game out yet (and really, no need for one in this particular case), there is a fairly detailed impression in the Impulse section of Game Informer. I thought some might be interested, so I transcribed it here:
Having played it to completion, I'm confident Shadow Complex on XBLA is the downloadable game people will be talking about this summer, if not for all of 2009. It scratches an itch that almost every gamer has, mixing exploration, leveling, and collection mechanics together around a gorgeous setting, with fun combat mechanics thrown in for good measure. Comparisons to the best Castlevania games or Super Metroid certainly aren't off the mark, though the boss fights in Shadow Complex don't quite live up to those lofty classics. Otherwise, this pitch-perfect modern iteration of that familiar style, complete with sprawling game world and scores of hidden secrets and passages. Some phenomenal animation, artwork, and music round out the experience, which takes six to eight hours to complete. I couldn't put the game down until the credits rolled. Go ahead and set aside a weekend this month to play it - I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Dammit. I'm going to be busy most of Wednesday night, out of town Friday and Saturday and busy pretty much all day Sunday. So I'll basically have after work/workout Thursday night to enjoy this until next week. Maybe I should just wait at this point?

You won't, but it definitely sounds like a 'wait' kind of situation. Then again, the guys on 1up said you can finish it in 5-6 hours so you could make it a marathon after working out.
