Superman - The Complete Animated Series ----> 11/24/09
TvshowsonDVD.com is reporting that Warner is going to release a complete series box set of Superman the Animated Series. According to them, the set includes a bonus disc that focus on Darkseid.

Again, another big fuck you to the people like me who already purchased the individual releases. I'm interested in getting the bonus disc, but I'm not going to shell out that kind of money for 1 additional disc.

They are going to have to do better than this in order for me to double dip. I can't imagine how long a bonus feature on Darkseid can be, but I doubt it's that long... off the bat, it sounds like a weak feature for a bonus disc.
Also, no mention of an art booklet similar to Batman's, so far...
What I really don't like is the repackaging of existing discs. I hate DVD-18s. If they had finally released the whole series in DVD-9s, I probably would have picked this up.

Yeah, I just picked up Batman and most of Supes, but don't have the Justice League sets, so I'd love to see that. Will they be able to put the regular and Unlimited in the same box, or are there rights issues? (I'm new to this "Timverse" stuff).

Yeah I'm holding out hope for a Justice League and Justice League Unlimited Set. I hate the way they packaged the series in the individual season releases and held off because of that.

Looking forward to this. I watched the series when it aired, but found a new appreciation for it when the latest movie came out. Glad I didn't buy the three box sets.

Glad i was able to restrain myself from getting the season sets, and waited for the inevitable series set. Yet again patience pays off.

It's pretty sad they didn't bother replacing the double sided disks with single sided disks.

I mean, come on; being able to stop and resume where you want was one of the earliest selling features of the DVD format. If a viewer isn't able to finish watching all 70 minutes in one setting, there's no problem with coming back them later. Why ask us to go back to the main menu to keep watching these episodes? Warner may have done a bang-up job with Batman, but they've really dropped the ball with Superman.

Cover art for the Superman complete set here:

Nothing elaborate or special like the Batman set.

Yep, I felt compelled to buy Batman again even though I had them all. I don't feel the same about this. Same discs, one additional "extra" that doesn't sound all that interesting... I can't really cry about the lack of "oomph" to the packaging since I am actually happy with the packaging for Superman and JL. The Batman mayb be more "elaborate", but I'm tired of this stuff that doesn't fit nicely on a shelf. The direction they are going with these new sets is where I hope "Complete Series" sets all end up one day.... or, at least have shelf storage in mind when creating the packaging.

is it odd or just me? i figured wb would go with an elaborate complete set like they did with batman. i mean, didnt batman sell out? and now they are pretty much re-issuing it because of anticipated demand?
