Do Televisions Dream of Electric Sheep: Round 3!

No more entries please. Game is FULL.

    Rules

  • The object of the game is to out-think everyone by picking answers to questions that are the most common (Sheep) or least common (Reverse Sheep), but still correct.
  • Example Sheep question: "Name a president of the United States." A good answer might be Lincoln and a bad answer might be the socialist.
  • Example Reverse Sheep question: "Name a brand of personal computer, past or present". Apple might be a bad answer, but Radio Shack might be a good answer. (Unless everyone is trying to go as obscure as possible).
  • Sheep scores are tallied as negative numbers. Reverse Sheep scores are tallied as positive numbers. The lowest score wins.
  • The answers to each question are tallied up. Wrong answers in Reverse Sheep are scored two points above the most common answer. This penalty is multiplied by the Lightning Round Multiplier. Wrong answers in Sheep are not penalized.
  • Certain rounds are considered Lightning Rounds (designated by a multiplier, such as ×2). In these rounds, scores are adjusted by the number on the multiplier. A wrong answer still gets a +4 penalty in a ×2 round and a +6 penalty in a ×3 round, and so on. In a sheep round, a wrong answer scores normally.
  • NEW! There is a Unique Bonus for Reverse Sheep Unique Answers. This is calculated based on the most common answer +2. Basically, it's the reverse of wrong answer scoring.
  • You may not cheat by using Google, Wikipedia, TV.com, etc. Use only what's in your head.
  • Please send in your answers to me via PM. Place only one answer per line, without numbers or the question itself. Those who do not do this will be penalized 10 points right off the bat.
  • For your convenience, I've made an Excel file where you can prepare your answers. When finished, just select the column of answers and send that in as text via PM. Don't email me the Excel file, that would be silly.
  • The Borg are not a species.
  • Note: For the purposes of this game, Reverse Sheep answers will be determined to be correct or incorrect based on my whims. I can of course be swayed by evidence, argument, etc. However, a better way to curry favor is by giving me gifts. A particular favorite is chocolate hobnobs (Only 3 left in stock! Order soon!). PM me for my address.
  • Sheep questions are marked by an S:, Reverse Sheep questions are marked by an R:.
  • NEW! There are no Cromulent Question(s). They are stupid and I hate them. Less than I hate Equalizer Questions, but I still hate them. This is a Republican game, not a Democratic one. Bootstraps, people. Bootstraps.
  • I would like to get at least 20 players. Under no circumstances will I take more than 30 (this excludes your game runner, of course). People that have run a game in the past or suggested questions to me that I have used have a guaranteed spot and will not count towards the cap of 30.
  • Special thanks goes out to The Bus for providing the formatting, rules, etc. for me to steal.
  • Additional special thanks goes to The Bus, orangecrush18, and dvdhook for providing me with questions suggestions, some of which I have used here.
  • The game is tentatively set to begin on Friday, July 31, around 9AM EDT.

    The Questions

  1. S: William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Christopher Eccleston, and David Tennant have all portrayed The Doctor. Who defined the character best?
  2. R: Name a television show that primarily takes place in a borough of New York City other than Manhattan.
  3. R: Not including any daytime soap operas or animated shows, name a character that has been played by different actors on the same show.
  4. S: ×2 Name any person that hosted a game show.
  5. S: It’s October. Which professional sport are you watching?
  6. R: ×2 Name any series with at least two gay main characters.
  7. S: Name the broadcast series of the 2000s which, after a period of hype, had the biggest commercial and/or critical failure.
  8. S: Name a series that was used as an example of moral decline in American society.
  9. S: Other than Gilligan, name one of the castaways on Gilligan's island.
  10. R: Name a television series in which a majority of the main characters are females.
  11. R: Name any scripted series set in outer space.
  12. S: Name a television series airing today that for whatever reason (cultural, economic, etc.) would not be as succesful (or simply could not exist) in the 1970s.
  13. S: Name a cable channel that is no longer available (out of business, not renamed or joined with another).
  14. R: Name a television series that started in black & white and later aired in color during its original run.
  15. R: Name a game show hosted by Chuck Woolery.
  16. S: Name a Sunday morning news show.
  17. R: ×2 Name any scripted series that examined working class life in America.
  18. R: ×3 Name one of the US locations (city or state) in which MTV's Real World took place for the entire season.
  19. R: ×4 Name any series where a majority of the main cast is non-white.
  20. S: ×5 A lot of people guest-hosted The Tonight Show. Name one of the guest hosts.

Good luck!

That Excel file is on a blocked site for me. Any chance we could get a Google version?

Also,
Spoiler:
only one actor has played "Dr. Who": Peter Cushing. And he's not even on your list!

Actually Google Docs is a pain in the ass. It copies the data but not the formatting so all the questions are labeled incorrectly. Ugh. I'll do it but it'll be a while.

Anyone that doesn't look white. Hispanics count as non-white.

I'm in, but I won't be around Friday to argue my cases. If you end up doing it on Wednesday, I would be very happy.

I like that you specified "scritped" for #11. Are there a lot of reality shows set in outer space?

I was thinking more along the lines of science documentaries.

Ah. I didn't even think of that. Although, technically, I assume the narrator is working off a script, so ...

(For that one, I went with a relatively obscure show, which means, I'm sure, that 18 people matched me and the half-dozen obvious shows I considered and rejected are all unique)

For question #6, are the Borg considered to be an all-gay species group of characters?
