Funny that should show up there- I worked at Tower when this was out and it went out of print really quick- a lot of people were calling trying to get it and we couldn't get any more.

I got the 30th Anniversary set at Big Lots, I wonder if the older one at least has printing on both sides of the discs?

As someone else mentioned in the other 99centsonly thread, Warner Bros dumped a bunch of titles there in the past.

Now folks are finding the Roots set at 99centsonly store. I wonder if they dumped LTGC, Kubrik, Imax, Joey, etc there now? I'll have to stop by the next time I'm near one of their stores. You never know what you might find at that store.

Hmm, the Big Lots one I bought was Roots - 30th Anniversary Edition four disc set. Seems like Warner is trying to dump all releases of this.

I sold my copy of the original set for $250 a few years ago. It amazes me to see it now at Big Lots and 99cent stores.

Yes, but the the side that says side A is the side you need to put down in the player, as opposed to the way its done now, where side A is print up for side A. I thought I had a misprinted disc until I put the other two in.

Also, I can't get the subtitles to shut off, I turn them off and they reappear in five minutes.

Stopped by a 99 cents only store. Didn't see Roots, but I saw the following Warner Bros dvds:

National Geographic - Emperors of the Ice (story about Antartica penguins)
Evel Knievel (starring George Eads)
Heat Wave
20,000 Leagues under the Sea (starring Michael Caine)

The penguin dvd is new. The other 3 titles are leftovers from the previous Warner Bros batch of dvds...

Best deal I've found at this store was Powerpuff Girls Season 1. Also gotten some other Cartoon Network stuff, Best Of Mad TV, and The Rutles II. Haven't seen any new public-domain titles in a long time, I bought all of those I wanted when they first started showing up.
