Hello,

I am a college student that is looking to get an SD-DVR, HBO, and Basic Cable with on demand from comcast. Does anyone have a similar package and can tell me how much it costs them a month?

I tried using the website but it is a nasty labyrinth of confusion.

Or, alternately, can anyone suggest a cheaper cable provider in the California bay area?

In order to get the On Demand service you will most likely have to subscribe to one of their Digital channel packages. No Basic Cable ONLY deal.

There are varying promotions such as discounted pricing for the 1st 6 months or 1 year (with 1 year commitment) for new subscribers.

i have Time Warner and you're probably looking at $100 a month. basic digital cable, $10 a month for the DVR and $17 a month for HBO plus taxes

In my area, Comcast offers their Digital Starter package for $30/month when you agree to a 1-year term. $52/month afterwards.

Standard DVR is $11/month. HBO is around $15. You will have access to HBO's ON Demand library.

Would run about $60 - $65 after taxes and fees.

They may offer you additional discounts since you're a new subscriber. FREE/discounted HBO and DVR fees for the 1st 3 - 6 months.
