I've got a PC-DVD decoder that outputs to my TV and it does a pretty bad job of it, it takes out 1 line out of 4. My bro just bought a Toshiba SD1200 and it has the same problems, only less pronounced. What brands do a good job of downsampling?
Thanks
Joe

Sony players generally have the least artifacting when downconverting anamorphic dvds to 4:3, but the cost is some increased softness in the picture. With respect to downconversion, you will get the same results regardless of which Sony player you choose.
I have a Sony DVP S-3000 and never see any artifacting. Also, I do not think the picture is too soft (I think the softness is pronounced only if you do an A B comparison with another player from, for example, Toshiba).
