Sad day, but not surprising considering his age.
It's hard to believe that he was "Retired" for the last 28 years. I was only 8 years old, but I remember watching his final broadcast back in 1981.

Watching the Apollo 11 coverage on www.wechoosethemoon.org, I was wondering whether any of the video would be of Walter holding up those cool models of the Command/Service Module and the LEM. Those are the best Cronkite memories I have of him - and of course the worst was the stuff he was spewing near the end, revealing his true political roots. I miss 70's Cronkite, but he was long-since killed-off by 90's Cronkite. I just hope his passing was painless.
