Jaws Franchise Collection?

I love the Jaws series but parts 2-4 are not really worth the single release to me and wondered if a Jaws Franchise Collection could be in the future?

Re: Jaws Franchise Collection?

Seems like it would be a good move on Universal's part. Not sure why we haven't seen one yet.

The sequels are all very difficult for me to watch, as the original is perhaps my favorite film.

Edit to add: Yes. Jaws 2 wasn't bad for a sequel.

I think Jaws 2 is a good sequel. Well, as good as any film following a masterpiece like Jaws could have been.

Re: Jaws Franchise Collection?

I could see Universal releasing a bundle similar to the Psycho triple feature, but I don't imagine that Spielberg wants his movie to be included with the sequels (that he had nothing to do with) in a budget release.

And Universal probably doesn't want to annoy Spielberg.

Re: Jaws Franchise Collection?

Isn't there an R2 triple feature of the sequels? Spielberg not wanting all four packaged together is most likely true.

Likely a Spielberg issue. I know I wouldn't want my film packaged with Jaws: The Revenge either.

Aww common! Jaws 2 was decent and Jaws 3 is brilliant! Well brilliant if you like cheesy 80's slashers. Common how often to you get to watch a slasher where a shark is the killer? Only in Jaws 3 my friend! Jaws 4... Mehh it was ok. Not my fav out of the four but not bad.
But anywho... I agree a franchise collection would be cool. Though I already own all four separately so I would not be buying it.

I've argued the same thing about Jaws 2 and 3 for years! Pure cheesy slasher fun. Hell, the shark growls (underwater, mind you) in 3!

What I've also said: 2 is more the traditional "group of teens travel out to location X only to be ambushed by the killer" format, while 3 is a take on a scifi slasher with a group stuck in a futuristic space station/ship with the killer hunting them down. Substitute "underwater theme park" for more more obviously scifi, and you've got that basic plot line.

Jaws: The Revenge . . . yeah, not much to appreciate there, even on a cheese level. TOTALLY worth not being able to get your Oscar in person!

Jaws 2 is worth buying IMO. Not a bad DVD at all.

Re: Jaws Franchise Collection?

Jaws 2 is not a masterpiece like Jaws, but it is definitely a worthy sequel. It manages to create the same special atmosphere that the original had, as well as some genuinely suspenseful & scary moments.

3 and 4, on the other hand, are completely inferior and nothing more than silly, campy fun.

Re: Jaws Franchise Collection?

All I want is The Shark is Still Working documentary to see DVD release. I'll even buy the original film a third time if Universal should package them together for the 35th anniversary.

Re: Jaws Franchise Collection?

I'll probably get the first one on DVD someday. A franchise collection would be cool but I don't see it happening.

Re: Jaws Franchise Collection?

Even if no "Franchise Collection" is possible, you'd think they'd have done a Triple Feature of the sequels.

I always sort of thought they would do a Franchise Collection of Psycho as well, with the original, the three sequels, and the remake.

I'm surprised they didnt with all these other triple and quadruple feature dvds out now. Like Lethal Weapon 1-3. How did they know that i got Lethal Weapon 4 for free when I got my first dvd player?

I'm surprised to see all the love for Jaws 2. It's a B-movie all the way and doesn't do justice to the name.

That maybe true to you but with Roy gone it's one of his best for us to remember him a fact that alot people forget that he was dam-fine actor!
