MacGruber: The Movie!
Will Richard Dean Anderson reprise his role as MacGruber's father? Will Pepsi play a pivotal role in the film? How many former, and current, SNLers make cameos?
So many questions...

The MacGuyver parody starring Will Forte as the all-purpose dingbat will, according to "Production Weekly", be getting the feature treatment directed by the character's creator, Jorma Taccone, with production expected to begin next month in New Mexico.

I don't see how they can stretch that out to feature length.
I'd much rather see a Lonely Island movie, with a bunch of connected sketches like Amazon Women on the Moon.

The character's "creator"? That must of been a grueling day in the writer's room. "Hey guys, remember that show MacGyver? Let's do a parody on that."

If the film is about 3 minutes it can work.

Re: MacGruber: The Movie!
The opening scene will go something like this...the credits roll, eventually panning over to reveal MacGruber in a room desperately trying to think of a way out while two of the people from the skits are cheering him on and tossing him odd items. It only lasts about as long as one of the SNL skits, a grand explosion takes place as he gives out a mighty "noooooooooooooooooo" and then it cuts to MacGruber's bedroom, continuing to yell, as he's startled awake over the dream he just had.
Alternately, possibly the opposite. Credits roll, pans over to reveal him in the little room as he is shockingly successful over stopping a bomb before it goes off. Cut to him in another room where he had fallen asleep, then a loud explosion, then cut to him in a hospital bed where it's revealed the other two people in the room with him were killed because of his daydreaming.

wow....I mean...wow....err. ok enough of that. but seriously, the skits are usually some of the shortest on SNL, the majority of the skit is the them song which they sometimes play over and over with added lines. Sure I think it is funny but a WHOLE movie? I mean I could see them doing extended internet shorts but a WHOLE movie?..A WHOLE movie??? What the hell are they thinking?
I would prefer to see a movie with the Falconer before this, and I dont want to see a Falconer movie either.
The only thing I could think of is that the MacGruber character is going to be a MacGyver impersonator who is somewhat obsessed with meeting him or saving the day like him and gets the chance to.
Arghh.

In the film, the legendary, much decorated MacGruber is pulled out of retirement as a monk in Ecuador by a colonel, who needs him once more to fight on behalf of his country. This time the mission involves going up against the evil ****h, who has a nuclear warhead; the mission is personal because ****h killed MacGruber's bride.

Maybe they should do it like Nick of Time or 24, and have the movie be 90 minutes of real time leading up to the explosion. Roll credits.

In case no one opted to click on the ComingSoon link...
Ryan Phillippe and Val Kilmer are in negotiations to join the film, with Kilmer playing the evil ****h.

It's been a while since a character from SNL has gotten the movie treatment. It will be terrible, have a bunch of cameos, cost very little, and make a profit.

Re: MacGruber: The Movie!
I love it. Will Forte is probably my favorite current SNL cast member and just trying to figure out how this will work as a movie has me intrigued.
Hopefully it manages to not evoke too many memories of Hot Shots and Tropic Thunder and do its own thing.

I can't believe Val Kilmer and Ryan Phillippe are in this.
