Synopsis: When a decorated Marine goes missing overseas, his black-sheep younger brother cares for his wife and children at home—with consequences that will shake the foundation of the entire family.
It does look JUST like the original film, which I enjoyed (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0386342/) so I'll give it a shot with these actors

I hated the original (and everything else Bier has done) so I'll skip it big time.

I hated the original (and everything else Bier has done) so I'll skip it big time.I thought the original was well done and pretty interesting. I also liked After The Wedding and kind of liked Open Hearts, but thought Things We Lost In The Fire was terrible.
It's a shame they didn't make some sort of effort to get the original out there instead of just re-making it 5 years later. I'd like to see the guy playing the "tough" brother, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, become a star here (he was the assassin in Angels & Demons, so perhaps he's on his way). It just doesn't seem as tough Jake Gyllenhaal particularly fits the character -- he looks like a nice, happy guy to begin with.

I think the film looks interesting, but knowing it's a remake takes a lot of my anticipation away.

I like Jim Sheridan (met him once) and even though the trailer doesn't have me excited, I'll still check it out just because he's directing.

Great premise. Great cast. I'm in. I've always thought Maguire and Gyllenhaal had a strong resemblance.
Now we just gotta get Ray Romano and Zach Braff to play dad and son. With Duchovny as the black sheep uncle.

A lot of unintentional laughs in that trailer.

I don't think I like Tobey Maguire anymore - he's trying to channel Christain Bale. Maguire is one scary, creepy actor though...Portman looks good though.

I see what you're talking about the whole Bale likeness. Yeah...he's creepy when he yells. That voice man, Maguire's voice hurts your ears when he yells.

This leaked online recently and I caught it.... Thomas Newman really needs to learn how to scale back the insistent scoring, but other than the music and the final sentence of narration [of which I found both unneccssary], I really liked this one. The film went some really unexpected places for me, having never seen the original, and I thought all three leads were very solid. The kids playing the daughters were really great! A small-scale story told very well with good character development. The last 15-20 minutes really stay with you. Well recommended.
