I am still suprised this team has no sense of urgency, because this losing streak has been for about a month now. They keep saying, "Were still in first, and we are the champions." But there are issues with this team:

1. Hammels has been inconsistent.

2. They HAVE to make a trade for a #2 pitcher at the deadline

3. The bullpen is burned out, Lidge hasn't been right all year, Madson is getting smoked in the past few games.

4. Rollins is hitting around .210, and OBP is worst for any leadoff hitter.

5. Ibanez pretty much carried the team out of the gate and he has been on the DL for the past couple of weeks.

6. They just look lethargic, almost to the point where I want them to fall out of first place in the East, as they play better when they are behind, as they had great Septembers in '07 and '08 to overcome the Mets.

Should've walked him! 3 run lead, 1out in the 8th - perfect time for the bases loaded intentional walk. I gladly give up the run or if I'm the pitcher, I "unintentionally" balk or throw a wild pitch which then means you intentional walk him. Even if the next guy up hits a sac fly you still have a 1 run lead and you won't see Pujols again.

EDIT - with 2 out bases loaded, the intentional walk is a no-brainer. With no out it's difficult (3 chances for a single to tie the game or on 2 sac flies). One out is a bit risky, but is it as risky as pitching to Pujols?

I'm a Giants fan but never heard of him, granted I don't pay too much attention to the minors unless their top tier prospects.

His minor stats don't look great, but I think he's a decent 5th starter or maybe even 4th..reminds me of Kirk Reuter.

I was watching Giants pregame and Russ Ortiz (now with HOU) was being interviewed. He jokingly mentioned that Tim Lincecum never thanked him for getting injured, which led to Lincecum being called up from the minors.

I guess somebody is just trying for bragging rights when they challenge Pujols. But he's the Chuck Norris of the baseball world, can't beat him.
