I can't seem to get any of the codes to give me 25% off.
Is there some sort of trick to it?

^ yup, it's BSG complete blu-ray. Although I'm still kinda on the fence, as I didn't really care for half of the episodes of the show - but the other half were excellent.

I really want to order that BSG set but I am just short of funds. If anyone is looking for the Iron Man Blu-ray Steelbook or Batman Complete Animated series, I would love to do a trade for the Complete BSG BD set. Just PM me so we can work out an offer.
Oh man, everyone is gonna jump on that. /sarcasm.

Stop pushing the thread up with shit that can go in the trade forum.

Whiners like you are what makes it an issue. It's one thing, and If I weren't to get a response within the sale actually begins on the item then I would obviously remove seeing as this is going to get put on back-order fast. I've been trying to sell this stuff for weeks to be able to afford this, this is the last ditch hope. Take your whining somewhere else.

I was being more facetious than anything. Certainly not whining. Just saying you're not going to get any response in THIS particular thread (which is for the DDD sale, not sales in particular) for what you're selling.

That and every time I see the thread go up I think it's GO TIME on the BSG set :)

I never said I was selling in this thread. I was trying to work out any sort of deal with someone willing to. It's worked for others in the past and I figured I'd give it a decent shot. Also, why not just hit F5 on the BSG BD set? Instead of relying on a thread and getting disappointed when it changes?

I have a very delicate pointer finger (which naturally hits F5).

And "deals" also belong in a different thread. In a different forum. I'm sorry that's noncomprehending, but I digress. Back on topic.

Edit: apparently it was OOS within minutes, so I guess I'd be ordering OOS either way. That'll teach me to do pre-orders during the sale through saved cart/wishlist. >_<

Oh well, as long as they fulfill my order before the MSRP drops below the discount (or it goes OOP), I guess I can wait. :p

I put my order in for it as well, with Expedited Shipping. However I had also pre-ordered at Amazon (who lowered to 209) but they shipped before I could cancel. LOL. I'll hold onto it and then return to Amazon, hopefully the backordered BSG sets from DD will get to me within 30 days.

I've made 2 orders during the sale:

1.
Visioneers - $9.87

2.
Battlestar Galactica S.4.5
Waxwork 1&2
- $31.27

(prices after tax--unfortunately)

I planned on spending more money during the sale, but a couple of my high priced items got even higher before it started. One was included in another sale, so it was expected.

I think I'll wait till after Christmas and use Gift Cards to buy the set at Best Buy, unless a store or online retailer has it for a good price before then. If the DD sale was in 2 weeks, I would be able to buy BSG, but a few unexpected bills came up, so no go right now. Oh well.

My Bill Me Later seems fine so far. I've used it before and always made the payments really quick. Maybe that's why. I can't really afford to pay for the set until the beginning of August but that's really soon so I'm glad I was able to select it as an option. That's unfortunate to hear that some of you had your orders canceled because of it.

Why is Watchmen 2-disc DVD listed as Discontinued now on DD?

Paul_SD
07-28-09, 02:51 PM
If people are concerned with paying the bill on the BSG set- if it is out of stock, it may not come in and ship before your next billing cycle anyway (assuming it takes at least 7 days to receive a resupply on this).
or
if it does get restocked w/in 7 days, they still may not have enough to fulfill all the orders that have come in after street date- so it could go out-of-stock again- further delaying getting charged for it (since they only charge when they are ready to ship).

This is an amazing price on this set- even cheaper than it was to get the individual seasons on dvd. I'm sure it will be on sale sometime in Q4 for the holidays, but I can't believe it would/could be much cheaper than the over 50% off it is here. It's not like it's going to flop either- relative to it's high sticker price, this should sell well.

I've ordered very little from DDD over the past several sales, but I've just spent more than I have in years.....and it's only two items.

The Bing discount helps a bit more too.

Anyone know for sure?Usually, that wording means they don't expect to receive any additional copies from their distributor. If they expected more copies to come in, they'd let you order it and simply tell you it's back-ordered.

But it's pretty hard to know for sure. The status of the title may change in the future if they do end up receiving additional stock.

But we are talking about Watchmen Directors Cut! A title that just got released about a week ago, right? Seems pretty odd that it would fall under the category of "not getting any more from the distributor". It's not like this is some rare, out-of-print title. That's why this is so confusing.

After 12 minutes on hold, the guy knocked mine out with no issue. He put an "order note" on there to refund me the $18 difference. As far as I can tell that is unaffected by the 25% discount and Bing cashback so it looks like I'm going to end up $164.92 - $18 - $8.80 = $138.12.

He said this was necessary because they did get a few in stock and some were shipping. Mine is one of those, so I bet I'm not the only one around here.

I emailed DD CS to cancel my previous order and then placed a new order with the discounted price. Looks like they are matching Wal-Mart's online price.

Either way, awesome deal with the coupon.

I worry about the packaging, though. Reports of the BSG box are no booklet or liner notes and the discs are separated by cardboard pieces. I mean, sheesh. Could they have sprung for mini booklets with plastic disc holders and paid someone to create a booklet listing all the episodes on whichever disc? Especially since it retails for so much.

I'm in for the BSG BD set. That's a lot of money but easily one of the best deals so far this year. The Bing cash back makes the deal that much sweeter. Is the cash back based on the sale price or the retail price?

Now to sell my HD DVD Season 1 and DVD Season 2.

I will just call up DD CS tomorrow morning to ask them to cancel it so I can order it again at the lower price. I suspect they'll get a lot of calls like that tomorrow.

If it shows as BACKORDERED, when you place an order they place a hold on you credit card for 2-3 days and then it drops off your card. When they actually ship, then they actually charge. That's the way most places operate.

No canceling BSG for lower price for me. They drafted my bank yesterday. Oh well, still a good deal.

Bottom line price on BSG BD after the new lowered price and Bing: $143.20. That's 59% off the admittedly inflated list price of $349.98. Definitely a good deal. And in anticipation of this I sold all my old SD BSG at half.com a few weeks ago. I had never even opened Season 4.0. I got close to what the new set cost me.

And while I was the first to post the news about the price drop here, I have to thank andruuuuuuuu at blu-ray.com who posted it yesterday at 6:04pm CDT. I did my cancellation and reorder and then I saw no one had posted it here.

Regarding Battlestar Galactica complete series Blu-Ray...

Once The Plan and those webisodes are released in a couple months (I guess we won't get that special making of not included in this set), is there a FAQ that tells the uneducated (like me) at what point during watching the complete series to watch these? Are they going to be sold together or as 2 separate Blu-Rays?

Eric F
07-29-09, 09:41 AM
OK, I called them up and got them to adjust the BSG set to adjust to the new pricing, so apparently you don't have to have them cancel it and reorder. It should automatically adjust on Bing because it goes by the final receipt and not by what the original purchase price is.

I called this morning and was on hold for only a few minutes before I got a hold of a very nice customer service representative who offered to just adjust my price when I asked for her to cancel the BSG Complete Series Blu-ray set. Total cost was around $151 and some change (not counting the Bing cashback - so the total cost including that should be around $142).

Awesome deal for one of my all time favorite series! :)

The price for the DVD complete set dropped also.... by a whopping 85 cents!

I am still on the fence about ordering this one. Love the show. Great price. But.... the reviews on Amazon from people who just received the complete set are pretty negative about the packaging. No episode listing? That's a major bummer. And cardboard sleeves (or slots more accurately) to hold the discs? Sounds a lot like the Wild Wild West complete set packaging, although at least that one came with a booklet that lists episodes and maps them to disc numbers. And the outer box itself sounds too big to fit on a standard shelf.

Given the negative packaging reviews, I am tempted to just buy all the seasons separately from this sale, which would cost me about $29 extra compared to the complete set.

OK, I called DD I got a noted placed on my account to make the BSG blu-ray price adjustment when the item ships. Now the bad news...there are 1,100 outstanding orders for this item. They told me more are on the way, but I'll probably see my boxset in about a month. It's a good thing I am not in a hurry. If you have already been billed you got it while still in stock.

So tempted for the BSG blu ray. With so many purchases made through Columbia house lately, I don't know how much I can justify it - other than being a good deal. Plus, with a baby on the way in February, I would definitely have to hide this purchase for a little bit....especially if they lower the price again.

As with others, I don't care too much for the packaging. I saw that the blu version has a UK release in September for 114 pounds (plus shipping/fees/etc) - but I really like their packaging. Of course, it is still a month away and packaging could aways change.

Nothing to do with the sale, but I was on a comic news site highlighting eBay sales of goodies from the San Diego comic con, and the numbered Dollhouse Blu hit $155 on eBay! That is nuts, the SD Blu set is the EXACT same set I will be receiving (hopefully soon), and only paid $36 (even less with Bing cashback). This means folks are paying $119 more than they should for this 'con-exclusive' blu ray, all for a number and letter from Joss Whedon (that is not even hand-signed). I would be hard-pressed to spend that much on the Dollhouse Blu even if I was Joss's "#1" fan.

From everything I had seen, this is what the UK will be getting. It comes out to about $20 - $30 more depending on the conversion rate, shipping and other charges from your credit card company. Unfortunately, I don't own any of the seasons - and have not seen any of them. A blind buy, but one I know I would enjoy and not regret.

I should have left well enough alone. I placed an order yesterday morning when it was $219 ($164 after coupon). I read about the price drop to $201. I checked the price this afternoon, and called for the adjustment. When the customer service rep tried to adjust the price, she said the new price would be $169 after coupon. I was looking at the $201 price on my screen, so I figured she was doing something wrong. I asked her to cancel so that I could reorder. Of course, when I added the item to my cart, it showed the $225 price, and I'm going to end up paying an extra $5 instead of getting a refund. I guess that's what I get for being greedy.

Like the previous poster said, it's processed as a return and you should get a return authorization for the $13 that looks something like:

"This message is to inform you that we have processed a refund to your account.

If you placed your order with a credit or debit card, a refund was issued to
the card that was originally charged. If an exchange is being requested, your
statement will reflect a refund and a recharge upon shipment of the
replacement items.

If you have any questions, please contact us via email at cs@deepdiscount.com.

I dont see why they should price match. You made an order and purchased an item at one price. You agreed to it. You willingly agreed to it. And then they lower the price and you complain. They do not have any obligation whatsoever to do this. Nor should they.

You don't see how someone could be pissed that DD dropped the price of something $20 not 2 hours after they placed their order and then have them refuse to pricematch their own price? Most BM stores these days these days offer a 30 day pricematch. This is the equivalent of Best Buy not willing to honor a pricematch when they dropped the price a few minutes after I walked out the door. Money isn't free you know.

In my delivery, there was an insert filled with coupon codes. They can only be used once per customer and expire 8/31.

23017 - 50% off any "Fun Stuff" item
23018 - $5 off any Book Order of $25 or more
23019 - $5 off any Music Order of $25 or more
23020 - $5 off any Video Game Order of $25 or more
23021 - $5 off any Fragrance Order of $50 or more

Was there a starting date for the codes? I tried 23019 on some CD's and it said:

There is a problem with what was submitted:

1. The discount code you entered is not valid.

I also don't have any obligation to shop with them again if they pull that and don't want to price match. I will gladly do it if I get burned immediately like that and most sites will not give you a problem about it.

I did have something go lower in price before I even received it and they adjusted it for me. This was a long time ago though.

I downsized my order substantially from what I originally intended, as my business is way down this summer. Got Lovejoy 4, Spirited Away, Castle of Cagliostro, and Operation Condor 2. Ordered them Tuesday night, got them Friday afternoon in perfect shape. Amazingly quick and no expedited shipping. (Maybe it's because Minneapolis is fairly close to Itasca IL.) Great service from DD. I've never had a problem with DD's shipping or damaged discs. Just an occasional back order.

The bulk of my order, which, according to the packing slip and email confirmation had 26 DVDs in it, arrived on Thursday missing six DVDs. Since I was out on business all day yesterday, I called this morning and they said the remaining six DVDs will reship Monday.

The box they came in was just about full, so I figure they guessed wrong on the size box they needed and somehow forgot about the last few. I've had late orders, I had a lost order once, but I've never had an order that arrived with less than what it should have.

DD did take care of it quickly and courteously though when I called them this morning.

Any word on whether this sale might be extended? (flight of the conchords and tim and eric releases coming out on aug 4). I can't remember how early we knew in the past of an extension for one of these sales. In browsing the sale thread from last November, the sale was only extended a day (from the 23rd to the 24th). DD sent e-mails to select customers alerting them of the extension on the 23rd.

Last June, the codes (20% off) were extended an entire week (from the 22nd to the 29th). During that sale, DD sent out e-mails to customers on 6/20 alerting them of the extension, which was a full 2 days before the original end date.

There are a few more cheapish DVDs I'm considering, but was waiting to see if the sale would be extened so they could go on my next billing cycle. I'd hate to wait too long and have the codes be deactivated.

WHY do these assholes have such a hard time keeping track of their inventory!? View an item page, says in stock, add to cart - backordered. Go to the item page again and it STILL says in stock. I also ordered Mysterious Cities of Gold when the sale started, which came up backordered. However, it's listed as in stock now, so where the hell is my copy!?

I was planning another order, and I suddenly lost my whole cart. Now I'm not sure I want to bother anyway.

I was planning another order, and I suddenly lost my whole cart. Now I'm not sure I want to bother anyway.Ditto. A couple days ago, everytime I added one particular DVD to my cart, the whole thing would disappear.

Just a couple minutes ago, I tried to access my shopping cart and discovered it was suddenly filled with random items I didn't even add - books, CDs, etc. It's like I had somehow accessed someone else's cart entirely. I hit refresh and suddenly the correct items appeared again. :hscratch:

The packaging flat out sucks. I wouldn't be so harsh if the spiral-bound book contained deep, meaningful information...instead it's just some factoids with maybe half a page of text on each film. Artfully put together, but devoid of any true value.

In the set I received (from the last 25% sale), one disc did have significant scratches...but the pattern of scratches bore no relation to sliding into the card sleeves; the scratches had to have been sustained in production. Ironically, this disc played perfectly for me.

Another disc (I think it was Suspicion) looked perfect, but froze up about 60-minutes into the film. This happened on four different DVD players and two different computer systems.

I was eventually able to made a DVD-R of that disc, but it wasn't an easy process.

Shortly afterwards, I sold it on Amazon (and sent the buyer DVD-R of the two potentially bad discs). He gave me postive feedback, so I'll assume either the originals worked for him, or the copies I sent.

It's a great collection of films, but there's no definitive method of knowing if you've got good discs or bad ones.

Peter

They were both there earlier in the sale because I put them in my list to purchase. Now I'm trying to put together my order and I can't find them again. I've tried every search term I can think of and all I can find is Volume 1.

most likely they went out of stock and couldnt get anymore, these are bci titles and therefore out of print

Every June and November for the past few years, until this year when it was in July instead of June. No telling what will happen later this year, since their business ( Infinity Resources, Inc. (http://www.infinityresources.com/about_us.asp) ) is clearly changing. The prices at DD and DVDPlanet aren't the deals they used to be, and DVDPlanet never did their site working properly during this sale.

Thought for sure I would place another order in the last couple of days for some odds and ends, but nope. This one will pass with a bit of a wimper for me. I looked around at my collection in the last few days and it finally hit me that I have just way, WAY too much stuff that I need to make use of and enjoy before any more off hand impulse purchases are made.
I got all my major 'needs' taken care of up to this point, along with a few hopefully fun blind buys thrown.
I kept to my original budget and that makes me very happy right now.

I'm kind of worried and was hoping someone could help clear up this situation for me as I've never ordered from Deep Discount before this sale.

I placed an order on Friday July 31 for the Batman Anthology Blu-Ray. With the 25% sale, the total came to $62.54. I just checked the order, and, like this past weekend, said it was still processing. But the total of the order now says it cost $83.39.

Am I going to be charged that or will I get it for $62.54 like I ordered it for?

You should be fine. In the order history on your account, it generally shows the original price. It should show your discount somewhere on the screen, but it doesn't actully subtract it from the total at the bottom. You should only get charged the 62. If for whatever reason you don't though, just call Customer Service.

I go to NetFlix at about 1:30 AM, checking whether the PBS documentary The Ascent of Money, is still marked as Very Long Wait on my queue. No, now it is Unavailable. Both of my orders arrived in like a few days. Which I was shocked since past history it has taken over a week. Sure I only ordered a few DVD's per order though.

My backordered Peanuts 1960's Collection arrived today.

My order is now complete. The two shipments each took one week from shipment notification to arrival, with free media mail shipping.

When the hell was that in stock and which edition? I ordered the regular release first day of the sale and it still says backordered despite the goddamn item page listing it in stock.

I only ordered 2 things from DD this time.

Received the first item, Barbra Streisand Live in Concert Blu-Ray today. Very strange -- the item looks like it was opened and resealed. There is a tiny piece of security seal left at the top of the case -- otherwise, none at all. The disc itself has fingerprint smudges and a few minor marks on it. The plastic of the case has a scratch near the spine, but I don't see a corresponding scratch in the outer wrap. The wrap was of the soft variety, not the more crinkly wrap. It looks like a possible used item which may have been traded in to DVD Planet and resealed and sold as new at the sister site. Anyone else receive anything like this?

Just got back from being out of town and my order was cancelled. Turns out my old credit card number was on file and I forgot to change it. Any idea if their customer service will let me re-place the order with the discount even though the code is expired?

if you are inclined, call customer service and explain the situation politely. perhaps they will allow you to make a new order with the 25% discount. i really doubt they were very busy during this sale lol.

I go to NetFlix at about 1:30 AM, checking whether the PBS documentary The Ascent of Money, is still marked as Very Long Wait on my queue. No, now it is Unavailable. So at 1:30 AM or thereabouts, I go to DeepDiscount and find this $24.99 DVD selling for about $15.65. I add the code DVDTALK, which I thought I used already, and the order goes through, under the wire since there was no sales extension.

1 PBS001052 DVD : ASCENT OF MONEY $ 11.84 In-stock

that's the short version. the full length one is being released in a month or so.

How long does an order take to process? I put my order in 7/31 and it's still processing. Granted I have 1/3 of my order is backorders, but still I have orders shipped in several parts.

My order was $75 after discount on 7/29. Good deal for several BDs. This morning I got a $10 additional credit. Anyone know why?

Same thing for me. Placed a second order on Sat (7/25) shipping notice on Mon (7/27)... still hasn't arrived as of 8/4. Really weird considering it took only three days for my first order to get here.

You're right, September 1 for the 240 minute version. Worse, I just found out the UK PAL version runs 285 minutes and costs about $19 plus shipping at Amazon.co.uk. And I just bought the first four season Poirot sets at Amazon there a few days ago, so the shipping charge would have been minimally extra for this DVD. What are you going to do? That's life.

Really weird considering it took only three days for my first order to get here. This is a USPS issue. Free shipping = Media Mail, which is notoriously unpredictable. It may take two days, or it may take three weeks. It all depends on the capacity issues the USPS is facing at the time.

The DVD that shipped out on 7/23 and up to now I haven't received it yet. In the same order, the other blu ray collection pack that was shipped out on 7/29 and I received it yesterday. I agree that if the box is bigger, you get it faster. If it is just one movie, it may take 3 weeks. BTW, I m in L.A.

I had something happen along the same lines- but my credit card is having issues. I'm trying to work with the company but I don't want to loose my order. I'll call DD when I hear that everything has been straightened out. Hopefully I can keep my order....
