I had a fire about two months back and am now starting to go through what got damaged(everything was put away into storage after the fire). the roblem lies in that i had about 1600 titles. many were new and unopened. a small amount were able to be saved by just opening them. quite a few got damaged thou. i could get replacement dvd cases(no big deal). my question is, is there anyone that can help me or point me in the direction to getting dvd inserts or repo of the inserts. i don't want to have to repurchase all my dvds due to the smoke damage that many received.

you can download images of many covers here: http://www.cdcovers.cc/
print them on a color laser print and it should be decent quality.
let me know when i get paid. :)

Don't use cdcovers.cc. The image quality is often....subpar.
How many covers are you actually looking at replacing?

best quality can be found at r1db.com, but you have to pay for covers. It's worth it though - all covers are high quality!

are you serious? i would pay a dollar a cover if the cover is great quality and could pass as a retail cover. i would like to see you do one before i would go ahead with that.

ack sorry if i mislead you in any way. and sorry about your situation! i was quick to post and didnt put things together. so im guessing you have close to 1k disks without covers.
my best advice is to go on various dvd forums and offer to buy them in the appropriate trade/sale threads. there are some (crazy few!) who discard all the packaging and keep only disks in binders or whatnot. with some luck and patience, you may be able to acquire a large bulk. then whatever you are missing, perhaps you can download artwork (custom or not) and print yourself - think of it as a labor of love!
also, possibly try to acquire covers from rental shops? never heard of it happen, but you never know. a quick phone call could do the trick maybe.
imho, paying someone to print out covers for you is not entirely cost-effective. time being the largest cost part. but ink and high-quality paper are not cheap either. if you are able to find someone who can do a bang-up job for about a buck a cover, more power to you though. just my thoughts :D

Hello Squall280,
Sorry to hear about your situation.
I'm not sure if you have insurance or not, but IMO, it would be a lot easier to have the insurance company cut you a cheque for the value of your collection. You can than buy what ever titles you want.
When my house was robbed many years back, my insurance adjuster gave me the green light to go and repurchase X amount of DVDs, up to a maximum value of $39.99 CDN each. That was the first and only time that I used a basket to buy DVDs. It actually took me a few visits to buy what I wanted as I would wait for certain sales.
Printing 1000+ HD covers is a lot of work and I wish all the best.
Cheers

You're not going to get anybody to print out 1000 covers for you. That's a full time job right there.
