Well that took me a whole minute to read this and place my order. Thanks a bunch cinemaphile! Looks like I'll be having a drunken 4th of July State party over at my place. Can't...fing...wait.

I've heard so much about this show. I'm really tempted to blind buy it. Is that recommended?

Yes, Yes, YES!

Like any sketch comedy show, there are plenty of sketches that are duds, but they are more than made up for with all the ones that DO work. Great stuff, truly.

awesome! cancelled my amazon order and in for 1.

if the last digits of the order number from the web site are successive and sequential, then it looks like there are ~500 t-shirts left

pinata242

I was 1482. But that might be every order for every product this year. Unless "2009" just happens to be the the item number.

I'll wait for a better price and bigger shirt.

Yeah, I was going to place an order until I saw they didn't have XL. Perhaps they did earlier... I've never seen this show, but I'm well familiar with all of the cast (and I don't watch Reno 911). It amazes me to see how many different shows and movies these actors have done with each other (Role Models, Reaper, Reno 911 are just a few of MANY). But I too will wait for a better deal... I'm in no hurry...

Maybe you should stop sitting around watching so many dvd's, then maybe you could fit in a large!

Just kidding :D2:

I seem to be alone based on the excitement here, but I couldn't care less about a T-shirt. I've waited this long for this set, I don't mind waiting until Amazon ships it. If it was something better than a T-Shirt, I'd be all over this.

I'm hoping they picked the five worst clips there. Thanks, you just saved me $20!

Edit to respond to below so as not to flood the thread:

Yeah, I was being overly harsh to try for a quip. Porcupine Racetrack was my favorite actually, and a couple of the others weren't bad. Barry Lutz was very good, but the sandwich skit wasn't very good, and none were anywhere near the quality that has been raved about over the years, nothing near MP or KITH quality. Just in my opinion of course. Maybe ten years of listening to gushing praise has made me expect too much.

:whofart:

60% of those are instant classics. Is it the best of The State? No. Is it a good sampling? Yes. There is so much on this set that you'll get your money's worth out of it.

Porcupine Racetrack is very different than anything else they did, but it's brilliant. The Barry Lutz show is another one of those that lives forever in my memory.

CHICKEN SANDWICH, CAAAAARRRRRL!!!!

I'm in the same exact situation as you...2 emails today, should get them Monday and shirt ahead of dvd. Let me guess, your shirt departed from Hodgkins, IL at 12:25 pm today? We might get that tomorrow and the dvd on Monday.

I was hoping I'd have it for the weekend, but oh well.

theyre coming, and its still earlier than street date. no worries. heck, i started this thread and some others here are still getting theirs before me. My tshirt arrived about 20 minutes ago, dvd supposedly coming tomorrow.

As far as I can find, no CBS Halloween Special :( wtf!!?!?

The replaced music is largely unnoticeable. The only time you can even tell is when there's any reference to a specific song or band - Like the "Slash" sketch used to have GnR music (and Red Hot Chili Peppers for Flea) and now it's just generic guitar music.

got my t-shirt in the mail Thursday. the Large shirt that was all they had left... too big. oh well, i'll try to shrink it.

dick_grayson
07-06-09, 10:13 AM
the large seems the same size as the medium except you can fit two people in it. also, my box came pretty badly damaged (torn up somehow). Anyway, I didn't really care about the box or the shirt anyway. It was great to re-watch from the beginning, but the lacking original music really makes it weird at times. It depends on whether you know the original music (a la the "raised in a barn" sketch with the Madonna songs). Either way, I am happy enough.

got mine and the box has a big slash across the spine. wtf is wrong with mtv.com???

Sadly, that is very typical with lots of DVD and DVD sets....rushed stock workers will slash open bulk boxes that product is shipped in with box cutters, leaving slashes/cuts right across the spines of those copies unfortunate enough to be on top....I see this problem ALL THE TIME at Best Buy...they always have a bunch of copies with the dreaded "across cut"....
I always check the spines of any DVD/box set/Blu-ray Disc I purchase at a retail store to be sure not to get one with this type of spine damage....of course, it doesn't help anyone who buys something online...

Yeah, I get that tie-in, but I've don't ever recall them showing The State even when Reno 911 or Stella or Viva Variety started. Or when R911: Miami hit theaters. Or The Ten.

It's great, just annoying that only after the DVDs are finally out do I finally have a chance to catch the shows on TV.

cinemaphile
07-10-09, 09:35 AM
It's just as much a commercial for the dvd's themselves. THAT is why they're willing to show them now. They figure you'll watch some and say "hey, I'd like to own the whole series!"

I guarantee there will be commercials advertising the dvd's during any episode they show.

pinata242
