Not sure how much want there would be for something like this, but I did some weighted averages of the available ratings of the various poll review threads. IDK, maybe it's the statistics geek in me, but I find it interesting comparing the ratings and all.

Also let me know if I missed any.

Thanks. And btw, I am updating the Transformers ratings just about daily. So far around here it's fluctuating around 5.6-5.8 while on IMDb it's gone down from a 7.2 to 6.8.

Love it, nice work. Might be a little busy numbers wise. Why the /5 and /10? I would hope anyone could do that math in their head.

True, though I included the out of 10 for comparison with IMDb and the out of 5 since that's the scale DVD Talk rates them. I know it's a math geek thing, but it's not always a straight x2 from the 5 star rating depending on the rounding (see: Terminator, Star Trek and Tropic Thunder). But I could drop one if it makes it easier to read.

Just looks cluttered, in my not trying to complain opinion. And since you mentioned readability, maybe some bolding or something in those numbers would help.

Updated. Transformers 2 is remaining about the same (5.6/10) and Public Enemies is at a 6.9/10 while on IMDb it's gone down from a (IIRC) 9.1 to 8.7.

Any advice to those who work with tables on the forum for making it easier to edit?If you have MS Word, you can copy your html into it and then do a search and replace to remove the ^p characters (the carriage returns). I usually build a spreadsheet that adds all the html tags and copy from that to Word, and then to the forum window.

Might give that a try then. I already have the info in Excel so I'll play around with that and see how it goes. Thanks everyone. :)

Tried to clean it up, didn't work so well. That said, Yeah I would copy the code into Word and hold on to it, Replace All Carriage Return with a blank space when you want to post an update.

<strike>Also, you can get rid of most of the center tags (need one for the table, then one for ALL the text in the table), it will save a little clutter.</strike>

Edit: Nevermind, that's an IE thing, you have to have the Center tags for compliant web browsers like Firefox. My mistake.

I edit my tables in Word and then just paste the update into the DVD Talk edit screen; I would never try to edit in the DVD Talk edit window. I also use colored text for the actual data and leave the table format stuff black, to make it easier to see the data that needs to be updated. Although extra carriage returns are a problem, extra spaces at each end of a table datum entry are helpful to separate it from the formatting characters.

Also, you may already know this, but an easy way to select a block of text is to place the cursor at one end or another, hold down the shift key, and click at the other end of the string. It selects the entire sequence between the two cursor clicks. (That's probably of more use to me because I have long titles and the like, as well as entire table rows, that I routinely edit/delete in my tables.) For selecting individual numbers just double click on them.

Thanks all for your help. First post now updated and includes Bruno. Please note that the IMDb rating only has 5 votes, lol.

For RT, I'm going to use the critic ratings (out of 10) rather than the percentage since then it will be a direct comparison...

Good idea Movieman. I don't know how much work is involved, but you might want to add Metacritic (http://www.metacritic.com/) ratings as well as Rotten Tomatoes.

you might want to add Metacritic (http://www.metacritic.com/) ratings as well as Rotten Tomatoes.Seconded... i find metacritic a much more accurate barometer for critical concensus, plus it has a more exclusive opinion about which are the most 'valid' critics to include.

And the scores are one decimal place away from being given on a scale of 10, anyway ... so not much more work involved.

Thanks for the effort Movieman.

This is an amazing idea. My only suggestion would be to add highlights to it. It could be every third line, to make it easier to read. Or it could be to recent movies, etc.

<FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #99FFCC">This is what I mean by highlighting.</font>

Quote my message to see the code. The color can be changed by replacing the #99FFCC with whatever color you'd like. Here is a helpful chart:

Thanks so much for doing this!

That would work, only problem is I would have to do a bunch of copy/paste though for 5 different columns. I'll look into it, though.

I'm not, lol. What I'm doing is just putting in the numbers in Excel and then typing it in into a Word file, then I just remove the carriage returns and copy/paste. I tried looking for the HTML code with Excel but couldn't (I'm using Excel 2007).

Thanks. And btw, I am updating the Transformers ratings just about daily. So far around here it's fluctuating around 5.6-5.8 while on IMDb it's gone down from a 7.2 to 6.8.

if this was blu-ray.com Transformers 2 would be higher, they gush over the dumbest of movies over there.

At some point I will update the grid on the first page, but here's a quick update on movies not on there...

Kick-Ass - 4.0/5 (8.1/10)
Avatar - 4.0/5 (8.0/10)
Iron Man 2 - 3.8/5
Nightmare on Elm Street - 2.3/5

I know I've missed plenty others so if people can provide links to those, I'll add those to the grid.

perhaps you should keep previous years separate?

Yeah, I can do that, but I still need to get caught up. Other than those I have listed in my prior post, what else have I missed (if any)?

First post updated.

very nice.

i will have MacGruber for 5/21. i usually only create a Review Thread for movies I intend to see personally, but if there is one you want me to set up in the similar vein as the others and no one else objects, just let me know. i don't intend to see Robin Hood, but can do one if so prompted.

also, if you want to include Zombieland (http://forum.dvdtalk.com/movie-talk/562304-zombieland-fleischer-2009-reviews-thread.html) from last year, it's up to you.

2012 (http://forum.dvdtalk.com/movie-talk/poll-10364-a.html) didn't get too many votes.

Scott, I know I tease you every now and then in other threads, but wanted to give you props here for your awesome job on the review threads. They're much appreciated!

As is this great thread TheMovieman!

Decided to resurrect this old thread to add some 2013/2014 movies. If there are others, let me know, I only went back 8 pages.

Hmm, any reason the links are not working for the new table? I directly copied and pasted but they're getting a Page Not Found error...
