Re: Metroid Prime Trilogy Wii SteelBook with Slipcover

Snazzy. So it looks like there will be one SKU for this and we'll have to buy the Steelbook? Oh well. I'm not a huge fan of paying extra for Steelbook packaging, but you gots to do what you gots to do if you want to get your Metroid on.

Not extra: $46.99 pre-order at Amazon.

August 24th is the release date.

This would be the most I've paid for a game in a while, but I think I'm in!

Re: Metroid Prime Trilogy Wii SteelBook with Slipcover

I wonder how much one could sell the separate titles for? Or if selling the GCN versions of 1 & 2 make sense.

Re: Metroid Prime Trilogy Wii SteelBook with Slipcover

Supposedly the new version will have Wii controls ONLY (no Wavebird support), so the original titles still have some value in them. Also as previously mentioned (IGN?) to squeeze all three games on one disc, the cut-scenes in Echoes are too compressed and don't look so hot.

Wii control > Cut scenes IMO

So even if I keep the GCN versions, I'd never play them.

Do want.

Just ordered from Amazon.

I'm pretty sure this is my first pre-order for a video game EVER! Hopefully I'm not going to start a trend.

I kinda want to buy this and I don't even plan on getting a Wii for a while.

I never had a Gamecube so I didn't get into the Metroid Prime series. This might convince me.

If I didn't already own all three games, I'd get this. I'd like to play the first two with Wii controls, but I'll wait for a deal on the compilation. The case does look pretty cool.

Guys if you are going to be buying this full price anyways get it at Gamestop for a free pre-order shirt.

I'm really tempted to buy this even though I already own all three titles.

Amazon = $47
Gamestop = $54 after tax

The T-shirt is probably worth $7 if you want it, but I don't really wear cotton T-shirts anymore, so I'll stick with Amazon.

I sold MP 1, 2 and 3 on Craigslist yesterday for $30. Now I just have to move my Wii back in the living room, and I'll be ready for this one...I just hope Fallout 3 is finished consuming my life by the time this comes out!

It also boils down shipping as well. Do you want it on release day or wait a week?

I pre-ordered over the weekend for the shirt. The clerk didn't have a clue about it, but I assume I'm safe.

Re: Metroid Prime Trilogy Wii SteelBook with Slipcover

Priorities, I guess.

So what do you guys think? Is this the best gaming value since Orange Box? I guess it depends on how much you like Wii controls for shooters, but I think it might be. I'd put it up there with Orange Box and the Wind Waker preorder in terms of quality and content.

ECA discount drops that down another $4.70. As long as ECA/Amazon continue to support this deal, it's pretty much a no-brainer to order from Amazon.

With this only being offered in Steelbook, you don't have to rush out and get it if you just want the bad ass packaging, I'll wait for a sale myself since I already own all 3.

It also boils down to whether you are a big enough dweeb to walk around in a Metroid shirt.

I sold my copy of Metroid Prime 3 on Saturday. I got a whopping $9, which I put toward Boom Blox 2. Of course, now I'm jonesing to play Metroid. Must ... wait ... until ... late ... August.

Re: Metroid Prime Trilogy Wii SteelBook with Slipcover

I'd totally walk around in a Metroid shirt if it were a nice moisture-wicking synthetic.

But what I don't need is more crap in my closet.

Amazon Prime, so I wouldn't have to wait a week, more like a day.

Re: Metroid Prime Trilogy Wii SteelBook with Slipcover

Eh...you either want a shirt for $7 or you don't.

I'm not usually a packaging guy, but I just gave that steelbook in the OP a good lookover, and wow did they do a good job on that!

As seen on CAG, Fred Meyer will have MP:Trilogy for $30 this week. It will probably be in stores Tuesday or Wednesday.
