Never played before? Here's some praise for the game:

"These things are the most fun way to waste time at work since GemCraft." - maxfisher

"This is the most stirring display of gallantry and sportsmanship since Mountbatten gave India back to the Punjabs." - wishbone

"These have been really fun." - Tracer Bullet

"Bus, I know it has been said before, but you really do a great job with these threads." - orangecrush18

<ul>Rules<br>
<li> The object of the game is to out-think everyone by picking answers to questions that are the most common (<FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">Sheep</font>) or least common (<FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">Reverse Sheep</font>), but still correct.
<li> Example <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">Sheep</font> question: "Name a baseball team that hails or hailed from New York City." A good answer would be the New York Yankees and a bad answer might be the Brooklyn Royal Giants.
<li> Example <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">Reverse Sheep</font> question: "Name an Olympic sport". Baseball might be a bad answer, but judo might be a good answer. (Unless everyone is trying to go as obscure as possible).
<li> Sheep scores are tallied as negative numbers. Reverse Sheep scores are tallied as positive numbers. The lowest score wins.
<li> The answers to each question are tallied up. Wrong answers in Reverse Sheep are scored two points above the most common answer. This penalty is multiplied by the Lightning Round Multiplier. Wrong answers in Sheep are not penalized.
<li> Certain rounds are considered Lightning Rounds (designated by a multiplier, such as <b>×2</b>). In these rounds, scores are adjusted by the <u>number on the multiplier</u>. A wrong answer still gets a +4 penalty in a x2 round and a +6 penalty in a x3 round. In a sheep round, a wrong answer scores normally.
<li> You may not cheat by using Google, Wikipedia, etc. Use only what's in your head.
<li> Please send in your answers to me via PM. Place only one answer per line, without numbers or the question itself. Those who do not do this will be penalized 7 points right off the bat.
<li> For your convenience, <a href="http://www.fantasticdamage.com/blog/SportsR1.xls">I've made an Excel file</a> where you can prepare your answers. When finished, just select the column of answers and send that in as text via PM. Don't email me the Excel file, that would be silly. (<a href="http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=rVBDMc6KYYJEWHu9-47jUmg">Google version here</a>).
<li> Note: Unless specifically mentioned in the question, all sports teams include any of the current sports teams in the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, or MLS. If there is a question that encompasses past teams that existed (or have since moved) in those leagues, then old teams are valid.
<li> Sheep questions are marked by an <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">S:</font>, Reverse Sheep questions are marked by an <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">R:</font>.

You'll note I don't have a start date for this one. I'd like to start it as soon as possible, but I will need 25 entries at least. I don't know if that will take a day or a week. If you've sent entries, simply post here that you've sent them.

I'll try to give a few hour's warning before I start the game.

(BTW, I'm doing something similar in the Movie Forum: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/movie-talk/557189-movie-talk-reverse-sheep-round-2-eclectic-vindaloo.html )

No, during that time, there was a very specific title associated with that.

I tried to not get too specialized with the questions. I didn't want something like "Name a left-handed pitcher with an ERA of under 4 for 3 straight seasons" or something along those lines.

There is one very interesting choice. Someone made a pick of a team that is, professionally, extremely unlucky at baseball. They have never won a major league game, to my knowledge, in their entire storied history.

Who is this, you ask? Why, ask Goat3001. He'll tell you:

orange - my thinking was that the Red Sox lost their unlucky status when they finally won the world series, and cemented it when they won it again

No matter how well they do, no matter how many titles they win, they will always have to live with the shame and misfortune of the fact that they are the Boston Red Sox.

For the next one, if the Women's World Cup is considered "a FIFA World Cup" I think it would have to be allowed. The last question is a little more ambiguous, since it specifies "the four major golf championships." If we include the women's tour then that would be 8 major championships.
