Secret Life of an American Teenager Season 2 Thread

This starts back up tonight for the handful of people that watch it on ABC Family.

Re: Secret Life of an American Teenager Season 2 Thread

Is this show serialized like Greek? Would I be able to pick it up starting tonight without seeing season 1 yet?

The weird thing is this is technically season 2 (they did the same thing as Greek and had a split season) However, the DVD that just came out says season 2.

Umm...yeah. Shouldn't be too hard to follow. Amy just had the baby, is dating Ben and the baby's father is Ricly. Grace is a christian who won't have sex, Jack is the annoying Jock, Adrian is the smoking hot girl who barely wears any clothes and can actually act, and Molly Ringwald is the mom. They are running a marathon right now on ABC Family.

As for the DVD, its wrong. It was actually Season 1.5 but they stuck a 2 at the top. Not sure why.

Re: Secret Life of an American Teenager Season 2 Thread

Ok, I've been watching this show from the beginning, and either I really haven't been paying attention or they just threw in some odd curveballs. When did I miss this stuff:

Spoiler:

- Ben's Dad dating a hooker? Wasn't she a hooker Tom called?

- Speaking of Tom, he's adopted?

- Did John Schneider want more money?

- speaking of him being gone, is "No, he's not dead, we just had sex." one of the oddest lines ever to be spoken on TV?

well, I think that's all, but there may be more.

Re: Secret Life of an American Teenager Season 2 Thread

I remember Tom being adopted was mentioned before, in some heart to heart conversation that Grace had with her parents. IIRC I think it was through their church charity work and they fostered him first?

I was confused at how the dad and sister knew that Molly Ringwald was pregnant when she just found out herself? I thought I missed a scene where Ricky spilled the beans or something.

Oh man...that was brutal. The actress playing Amy is just a bitch. I really wish they would just kill Amy and Ben and focus on Adrian, Grace and the dad. I must really hate myself for watching every week.

Re: Secret Life of an American Teenager Season 2 Thread

I have wanted to slap Amy several times.
I am not a teenager (over 40), not in High School (work full time and have a husband and other children), but I was pregnant when this show 1st started. I hope I am not a pitiful as she is.

They've completely destroyed the Amy character this season. She's unwatchable. Who the hell would think about taking their 3 month old son overseas for a month or two? Or go by yourself and leave him with your parents? She's a total bitch.

On the other hand, they made Ricky pretty likeable.

I almost have to admire a show that can make a character with Downs Syndrome be a total douchebag!

Re: Secret Life of an American Teenager Season 2 Thread

This show was never Emmy worthy but my word, has it become painful to watch. Amy is in 100% bitch mode with zero sympathy, Ben has no spine, Anne is dealing with that lame boyfriend/boss of hers along with her stupid teen-mom daughter and her own pregnancy, and Grace equating sex with her dad's death was effing creepy.

The only characters worth watching are George, Ashley, and Ricky, because they're clearly the only ones that can actually process a complete thought. Kathleen, Adrian and Leo with his new girlfriend are OK to a lesser degree.

Secret Life looks even worse when you compare it to Make It or Break It, which is actually a solid show with some resemblence to real-life situations.

Re: Secret Life of an American Teenager Season 2 Thread

I haven't even bothered to watch the credits this season, but is it possible that they got new writers or something? I have to agree with the above comments- it seems like they've changed the personality of a bunch of the characters.

Amy started out as sympathetic, now all she wants to do is dump the baby on others. Ben was always a wimp, but now he's obsessed with wanting to have sex with Amy. Grace is just ridiculous, etc, etc, etc...

Re: Secret Life of an American Teenager Season 2 Thread

add me in the the group that wants to slap Amy. Geez...between her, and baby daddy...and baby daddy's new g.f.. the show is terrible. Why doesn't Amy's mom just tell her oh hell no you're not going to Italy period.

Now, is Ben's dad the guy that used to be on the Sopranos? He looks familiar. His dad's g.f. has been in other movies and Disney shows too.

It is also my voicemail greeting.

It's trainwreck television. It's got some of the absolute worst, most bizarre writing I've ever seen... yet I can't stop watching in anticipation of what ridiculousness will be presented next. No one on the planet talks or acts like these people.

Re: Secret Life of an American Teenager Season 2 Thread

My daughters are hooked on this ... my wife was hooked on the previous seasons (not so much now) ... all I catch is "sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, masturbate, sex, hook up, sex, sex ..."

Can somebody please explain to me HOW this is on ABC FAMILY and exactly what values my kids are supposed to be getting out of it? At first I thought it would be a show that would show the trials and tribulations of being a teen parent ... now it has so over-glamorized it that I don't think the kids should be watching it. I can't bring myself to sit through more than 90 seconds of that crap in order to be able to make an informed opinion though.

"This week, on a very special episode of Blossom ..." 8-)

Tom really is an asshole. Most of the time, ugly and disadvantaged people are portrayed as saints. I think they went a little too far in the other directiion with Tom

Two great shows. though Greek has sliipped a bit.

Secret Life has some of the WORST acting I have ever seen. The new guidance counselor looks like her last job was at a high-school play.

Reminded me of "The Contest" episode of Seinfeld.
