I just picked up one of these, and I was wondering if anyone owns one and has any feedback, tips, or suggestions to learn more about it. I don't have any crazy equipment (HT, PS3*, HD box, etc), though I would like to get some home automation stuff for my lights and maybe fans. It seems like a PITA to setup, but I hope that once I get it setup that I won't have to mess with it much.

Any idea if I can use the Dell USB IR Receiver with my PS3 and Harmony 1000 remote? I happened to stumble across it in a random box of junk, and I'd really like to save $60 by not having to buy the Logitech adapter.

The PS3-specific Logitech Harmony adapter? No, a basic Dell receiver isn't going to work the same. Wouldn't that be an IRDA receiver? (which is not the same as IR for remote controls) Or what is it?

The Dell IR should work with any computer if you had software to understand the IR commands coming in, which would be easy enough to find. And of course your remote would work with it. But short of someone writing specific software, I doubt very much you'd get anything with this and the PS3. It would be all over the 'net if it worked as an IR method for the PS3, IR has been a huge discussion topic.

Assuming an Ebay auction for the Dell has valid data, it says:
Supported entertainment software includes Dell Media Experience and Windows Media Center
