Metallo headed to 'Smallville' next season

According to TV Guide, Metallo will be making the jump to "Smallville" next season.
Taking on the role will be Brian Austin Green, formerly of "Beverly Hills 90210." Those who remember him only for that show should check him out in "Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles," where he showed a flair for sci-fi/action.
TV Guide says Green will "appear as the kryptonite-powered villain (alter ego 'Daily Planet' journo John Corben) in at least the first two episodes of Season 9, which kicks off Friday, Sept. 25."

Great, because '90210 Alum' Spelling was so great on the show. Villains are great and all but it would be nice if we could get Superman on Smallville.

Brian Austin Green was great in T:TSCC so I wouldn't lump him with the horror that was Tori Spelling on Smallville. Sadly, last season left such a terrible taste in my mouth that I feel this is beneath him. I have no faith in this show anymore.

Re: Metallo headed to 'Smallville' next season

Although he was cool on "the batman" ep with Superman, Metallo was usually a "Meh" character for me. But as mentioned, BAG was great on the Terminator show so he may bring some coolness to the character.

But then again this IS Smallville; and in my opinion, this show has a way of not getting characters right....

I would feel more excitement for this announcement if there had not been already a ton
of Kryptonite-powered villians used on the show.

As is, this a BIG ***YAWN***

Originally BAG was rumored to be going on One Tree Hill as a regular, but I guess that either fell through or he went with this show instead.

Re: Metallo headed to 'Smallville' next season

Why do I get the feeling that writing in Metallo is only an excuse to bring Lana back in some capacity? Afterall, they made sure Lois will be MIA for a good portion of next season.

Also, why is there so much Kryptonite left in the world? You'd think Lana would have absorbed 90% of it by now.

And as will travel mentioned, there's "already a ton
of Kryptonite-powered villians used on the show". What's gonna distinguish Metallo? That he'll ocasionally open his chest to weaken Clark?

I just like how Clark Kent will have wiped out all the major villains before becoming Superman.

Umm, didn't we already have Metallo as that young high school kid? He's a good guy with the JL now in the Smallverse.

So he passed on a full year on OTH for $1.5 Million for a 2 episode stunt on Smallville. Smart move.

I've never seen it, but isn't OTH kinda like 90210? Maybe he still wants to stay away from doing similar stuff. Or maybe he just wanted to play a villain for a change. Who knows?

I think he passed on committing to OTH because he and his reps are holding out for the slim possibility that his Pilot Body Politic gets a mid-season order.

Must be. I had always figured it was Metallo, but they just weren't allowed to use the name due to rights issues so they came up with a generic one.

Check that - turns out there is a DC Universe character called Cyborg. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyborg_(comics)

Plus I think he is a comic fan, even wanting to be in the Green Lantern movie, so maybe he just wants to step into comic stuff.

Maybe he's trying to raise his "Comic Book" profile with the folks at Warner so he can lobby for a role in Green Lantern?

Cyborg has always been an important member of the Teen Titans -- which is appropriate in that Smallville's "Justice League" is more like the Teen Titans.

There is a short video that expands slightly on Green's role on the show here.

I can't believe this will be the 9th season of Smallville and still no Superman.

The show should have ended last year. They are officially stretching this out way past it's expiration date.

Agreed. And yet, I'll keep watching, just to see how they finally wrap this show up.
